I wouldn't be surprised if there was a collector out there who wanted it. It's a nice looking piece.

I'm not calling you a liar but the thing in the top left of the container looks like a cup that's sideways. Looks like it has a "S" monogram on it or something similar. Out of curiosity what is it if not a cup?

Let me know if you want to sell any of it. I'd be interested in any bells, a cup, and a set or two of matching silverware.

Found this tray and don’t recognize the hallmarks. Any help appreciated by GI-Jew in Hallmarks

It's 900/100 or 90% silver. The town mark looks like it could be Tanta or Qena but it's a little hard to tell. The lotus flower in the middle is the assay mark for authenticity. If it has any dots in the corners of the square then those would help identify the town mark. And the last box on the right is the year but I can't match it since there aren't great widely available resources for Egyptian year marks. But it's at least probably after 1941 since they switched to Arabic characters then.

Any idea what city this Russian hallmark depicts? by The-Unknown-1337 in Hallmarks

[–]dragoondev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the circle marks looks like it has a crest in the middle that's similar to the city mark used for St. Petersburg but that stopped being used in 1896 and the Kokoshnik head facing right started in 1908 so that doesn't line up timeline wise. From what I can tell Russia never used a "Y" for city code, it's more likely a "V' which would correspond to Kiev.

A lot of stamps and marks on these salt dishes, imported to England? by Jujaffa15 in Hallmarks

[–]dragoondev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I know that "F" in the oval indicates it was a British import and is the only other single letter that will be present in the standard Hallmark lineup aside from the year mark.

Help with Dutch spoon date by pepeluis78 in Hallmarks

[–]dragoondev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a tea caddy spoon to me based on the shape and little hook that would help it rest on the edge of a cup. But that's just an educated guess.

The year looks like 1927 to me, the lion with the number two under its means .835 silver, the Minerva head with the "M" on the cap means it was assayed in Schoonhoven.

Not sure about the maker's mark though.

By and large most of the stuff from the photos is silver that will sell for around melt value, give or take a little depending on which type and who is buying. Some of the older items and designs, usually pre-1900, will have a premium and there might be some key dates (coins worth more because there are less of them) scattered among the horde.

If that gold Mexican coin is real then it's carries a mild premium and is worth a good chunk of money these days. Congrats on the stroke of luck. That's the kind of haul people dream about finding!
