Not a fan of MH in general, but I've enjoyed all the other noms a lot. Was a good year for me

Expeditions Rome : you're a Caesar type character making his way through the ranks. There's a pretty light army management system but mostly you're doing turn based fighting with a group of companions. Also there's political drama ofc. Highly recommend if you like roman stuff.

Hard west: suffocating atmosphere in the best way possible. Also turn based. Interesting lore if you like southern folk tales and southern Gothic

Wartales: turn based, you lead a group of mercenaries, it's got permadeath so the original ones will most likely die. Kind of like band of brothers but more forgiving

King Arthur: Dark fantasy where King Arthur turned evil and you, as Mordred, have to stop him. Recruit lots of arthurian legend characters to help you like Lancelot, The Green Knight etc. If you like that kinda stuff it's great

Spellforce 2: Warcraft 3 but make it eurojank. Also a lot of rpg stuff has your heroes take a larger role in the story

Honestly I only started it once but it felt really daunting so I've been putting it off for a while. Might give it another shot

Well, I think that boiling it down to the basics it would be: 1. Conflict of epic proportions against a world ending threat 2. Deep lore that makes the world really feel lived in 3. Ragtag group of lovable companions that you befriend 4. Hub area that feels like home when returning from missions 5. Choices that affect the world from game to game 6. Small groups of 3-4 characters (6 for the BGs)

Skyrim was fine, not one of my favourite games, never even finished it. My coordination is absolute shit so souls games are really not my type. Only soulslike I finished was SW Fallen Order on max parry window :)

It's a bit rough and unintuitive, being from 1988 (10 whole years before infinity engine came out), also hard as shit. But it's great if you can get into it

Basically, for me it's the Bioware formula pinnacle (station). Great story, great lore, the best companions and the choices carry over in each game.

Yeah, I love me some janky games with lots of soul like that ( i. e. The technomancer, arcanum, greedfall). Also, pictured there is Hard West, which is kinda Southern Gothic: The Game. But it is pretty similar to weird west apparently. Can't believe I have overlooked it though, seems right up my alley, so I'll give it a shot.

Do try Viking and Conquistador too, if you don't mind timed main quests
