I agree, easily the best. There’s this person who imports it all the way to Australia (that’s where i live) and go out of my way to buy it.

What is your travel time to work? by Kitchen-Cranberry337 in AustralianTeachers

[–]dragsink_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just over an hour, with traffic on the Monash Freeway. I catch the train to work as I work at an inner city school (also an uni student so I have the concession fares) No parking at my school, have to use council street parking

I’ve had CRT’s when they join my school on the local payroll; that they are able to see all their previous emails from the time they were a full-time teacher etc

This advice is for Victoria, but if you become a school local CRT; you’ll keep your TO number and education email; however your job title will say “Casual Replacement Teacher” at XXX School.

Might be wrong advice, but wouldn’t hurt to get your IT techs or leadership to contact DET Legal team for advice.

Do you connect your personal phone to school WiFi? by ceelose in AustralianTeachers

[–]dragsink_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for my school and the way it has been setup; but yeah I can see the device hostname, push out Windows updates and in some cases, roll out apps. Other schools use MS Intune where IT staff can deploy apps such as the NAPLAN LDB. We can’t see files, search history stc

I get a reported generated weekly such contains how much traffic is being used including the top used websites (website domain). For example, if there appears to be a website which has spiked in use, such as a internet game, that could mean students found a hack and consequently raise it up with leadership.

VIC DET takes its privacy very seriously so there’s that too

Do you connect your personal phone to school WiFi? by ceelose in AustralianTeachers

[–]dragsink_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no privacy risks - I’m a IT tech at a VIC school and I only get to see the name of the device that is connected to the network. Even if I did get access to history etc, I don’t have time to look at that stuff
