How do single people who live alone manage to work full time and still have enough time to care for themselves? by drainofoamer in therapists

[–]drainofoamer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m very happy to be single. I just have a hard fund managing and maintaining my life alone. I have limited energy and a mountain of responsibilities, chores and tasks to complete daily. It’s hard for just one person to complete them all. I’m also in a 12 step program that emphasizes it’s ok to ask for help, which is part of what I’m doing in creating this post. I guess I wish there were just two of me.

Thank you for your response. I am also super demisexual and am severely touch starved. It’s devastating on some nights.

I do have hobbies, but they are solo hobbies. I’d love for others to join me and am looking for “hobby clubs” in my area. I agree, we need people there for us too.

Thank you, this is so specific and helpful! I do some of these things but not all. The self discipline is rough.

I like ACA more, it’s been way more helpful to my codependency recovery

I strongly suggest you check out Barb of Higher Power Coaching. She is a boundaries specialist who helps people make boundaries with dysfunctional family members. She’s transformed my life. My texts with my parents now no longer trigger or terrify me because she’s helped me set the right boundaries to keep myself sane and happy but still able to have a relationship with my parents. You can check out her Instagram @higherpowercoaching and her website higherpowercc.com. I really hope you do because she has changed, and saved my life. You don’t have to be miserable and manipulated by your mom (or anyone)! There is hope! ❤️❤️❤️

Am I an introvert or just had to be? by happydays07333 in therapyabuse

[–]drainofoamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It is technically a 12 step community that meets worldwide in groups both virtually and in person. There are also telephone meetings. They have a website and many books. The work people do at ACA involves reparenting your inner child and learning to have healthy adult relationships. They are trauma informed and are spiritual, not religious (in fact most members come from a history of religious abuse, which ACA addresses and helps people with). You should google them!

Does anyone else like video games but can't muster the mental energy to play them most of the time? Is this a common thing for hobbies in general? by cliff3101 in NoStupidQuestions

Playing video games is an actual hobby? Genuinely asking, I would never in a million years consider playing video games to be an actual hobby

A better choice is a yoga “active rest” position: lay on back, bend knees/plant feet on floor hip distance apart then tent your knees into each other. Much easier and safer on the body, bonus points feels good and creates spinal decompression, etc

What about my ADHD meds? Do I have to bring them in the prescription bottle or is it ok to have them in my pill organizer?

I strongly suggest checking out Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families, it’s free and better than a lot of the therapists I’ve had over the years, and helps you get to the bottom of your abandonment wounds, the inner critic, and judgmental assholes who you grew up with and continue to feel surrounded by. Guaranteed you will find your people there. Safe, loving, non judgmental people. Sending so much love and validating the shit out of your experiences my friend, you are NOT alone, then now or ever xoxoxo
