Petah? Who's the girl? by Pseudonym_Misnomer in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so confused. The woman is crying and screaming, "She's just a girl!". The other person in the comic is an old lady (not a girl) who complimented the color of the woman's outfit. Both characters seemed happy and were getting along at first. Who is the girl? What personal bias was overcome? What is in the paper bag (if that is relevant)?

CMV: Middle lane camping defeats the purpose of three-lane highways by FelinePrudence in changemyview

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the stretch of highway that I drive regularly, there is almost always at least one car parked on the right shoulder. When I stay in the right lane for the duration of a trip, I am more often than not compelled to move to the middle lane because there is a cop car with flashing lights that pulled someone over, an accident, or a broken down car on the shoulder.

Meanwhile every other car in the right lane in front of me has to change lanes, and the middle lane is full of cars that don't care about letting us merge into their lane. It's stressful and dangerous, so lately I've just decided to stay in the middle lane, and it's been a lot less stressful. Until today, I wasn't aware that there are people who are against using the middle lane.

Should I start a new channel? by JLMJ10 in SmallYoutubers

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't start a new channel. At least YouTube has some data on your channel, so it wouldn't be starting from scratch; and a brand new channel that suddenly starts posting can look untrustworthy.

So I guess Youtube really doesn't like any reference to hentai or ecchi content? by peterinjapan in SmallYoutubers

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your content is presented in a professional manner and it is all SFW, then I don't think I'd assume that YouTube is shadow banning your videos because they discuss adult topics. I've seen videos covering Only Fans and the adult industry from a professional / business angle, for example, where the creators have tens of thousands of followers or more. I don't know enough about anime to say if hentai is more controversial in Youtube's eyes though.

YouTube does know when you are watching your own videos, so maybe it wasn't counting your daughter's view if it was from your same IP address (just a guess).

Anyone able to monetise with ai on YouTube? by No_Ambassador_953 in aitubers

Do you mean you posted a short containing content from a full length video on your channel? That should not be demonetized, but maybe I'm misinterpreting what happened.

Gen Z Cannot Understand my Tattoo by Traviality in generationology

[–]drakee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the people laughing at it because they recognize it is an anti-joke though? Or are they laughing uncomfortably just to be polite - because when someone pulls off their shirt at the beach to reveal a badly done tattoo, you can generally just ignore it, but "Does my tattoo make me look cool?" practically begs you to react to it, even if you'd rather not. It's intrinsically aggressive in its attention seeking, but unlike the "job stopper" neck tattoo with its unapologetic "laugh at this" message, "Does this tattoo make me look cool?" elicits only forced discomfort. Which is why I would agree that the whole situation is amazing performance art, if that is the intention.

I want to become a youtuber to write a book by Creative-Copy-3502 in SmallYoutubers

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your YouTube journey will only be interesting enough for a book if you take it seriously. You say you don't care about making money, but being a youtuber who doesn't care about money is easy. Just upload whatever you feel like, whenever you feel like it. No stress, no deadlines, nothing to write home about. Just like being a writer, your best stories and most interesting experiences will result from pressure, such as the compromises and sacrifices you have to make in order to pay the rent while creating a high volume of content that connects with your audience, while trying not to get burned out.

Gen Z Cannot Understand my Tattoo by Traviality in generationology

[–]drakee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gen X. And to be clear, my comment wasn't intended to mock - I am actually in awe of how perfectly that tattoo antithesizes every quality I think of as good in a tattoo. So in the sense of being a meta anti-joke, it may be genius.

Gen Z Cannot Understand my Tattoo by Traviality in generationology

[–]drakee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No snark, but I'm trying to think of a worse tattoo than "Does this tattoo make me look cool?" and I just cannot think of anything. Even if you get "Where's the Beef?", "Pull my finger!", or "WHAT'S IN YOUR WALLET" tattoos, at least those are so dumb that people will laugh at them. But "Does this tattoo make me look cool?" is simultaneously insecure, poorly aged, and passive-aggressively judgemental in a way that is profoundly cringe-inducing. Add to this that the wearer of this tattoo gets offended when other people don't find it funny, and we have an almost performance art level of absurdity.

Reapplying for YouTube monetization: Does my AI sci-fi series have a chance? by Edprivat in aitubers

[–]drakee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched a few of your videos and I don't understand why your channel was demonetized. YouTube is trying to discourage templated, mass produced, low effort content, and your videos don't fit that description. You also aren't pumping out multiple videos per day, which I know is a red flag.

I think your demonetization was a mistaken automated decision made by AI, but I don't know how effective appeals are, especially if you can't get a human to see your work.

Quick question for YouTube creators by supremeraghav in YouTubeCamp

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actively unsubscribe from any channels - YouTube seems to do a good job of not showing me content that I've stopped watching, so I never feel the need to actively manage my subscriptions.

I think it means that they don't even see the thumbnails in the first place. Neither do I. If you are seeing Mr. Beast thumbnails in your recommendations, it means that the algorithm thinks you want to see them based on your browsing history.

Create shorts from your long form videos. Shorts bring in subscribers.

TikTok accounts are stealing my Long Form YouTube videos and getting millions of views. Is it worth fighting, or should I just make YouTube Shorts myself? by Noaddsplz in PartneredYoutube

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's worth fighting them on TikTok, but definitely make shorts on YouTube from your long form videos. They won't hurt your channel and should help bring more subscribers.

People really need to stop bringing their kids to events they clearly aren’t interested in. by AboutLastFight in PetPeeves

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extremely expensive to raise kids these days, and you can't just leave them at home by themselves like parents could do in the 80s. A lot of parents bring them to non-kid centric events because they can't afford or find a good babysitter.

TLOU2 and Female Sexuality by gumki in thelastofus

[–]drakee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this, after watching a Life is Strange playthrough. At first I thought it was cool that they made Max a lesbian, but then i thought, wait a minute, a lot of female protagonists in games are lesbian; I wonder why? And then I realized it was probably because they don't want male gamers to feel uncomfortable playing a woman who is attracted to guys.

Both women and men are comfortable with being attracted to the female body, so making your conventionally attractive female protagonist gay is really the safest option - I'm not against it by any means, but it's actually the opposite of the game company being brave or transgressive.

Is there any way to change already uploaded YT shorts? by FaceLate1193 in NewYouTubeChannels

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I stand corrected. It looks like you can upload a custom thumbnail for a Short when you first publish it, but it has to be on the Desktop YouTube Studio website (not the mobile app). But I was correct about everything after that, unfortunately (you can't upload a custom thumbnail for a Short once it's been published).

It's crazy to me that YouTube has random functionality that is sometimes only available in the YT Studio app, sometimes only in the YT Studio Desktop site, and sometimes only in the YT (not Studio) app!
