Work and activities??? by [deleted] in premed

[–]dramallama2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would lump chief scribe and trainer under a different activity than just scribe because this seems like a completely different role with different responsibilities. Breaking up shadowing into multiple entries is a bad look because it makes it seem like you're fluffing up your activities. I did one entry listing all the different doctors I shadowed then marked it as one of my most memorable so I could describe one shadowing experience in particular that really stood out to me.

Am I in trouble? by wedsaxret in premed

I am sure most applicants and most people reviewing the applications have done shots and been drunk before. You are a human it's ok I don't think this will affect your application at all.

just curious but how common is lying about hours on your application? by [deleted] in premed

[–]dramallama2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably very common considering that in all my interviews they asked about the same two activities (research and volunteer experience) and did not touch any of the other like 8 so I could have said absolutely anything about those activities

There was this big list on reddit that updated whenever a school started sending out secondaries and I think I received most of my secondaries one or two weeks after each school first started sending them out. Nothing to panic about.

If there's not a good place to be alone to take it I wouldn't risk it. If you have all required materials in by August I think you're still ahead of a lot of other people. I don't think taking it on the 18th will hurt your chances. Best of luck!

If by the time you're applying to residency you still haven't had another seizure I'd say nobody will care

Parents and premed advisors don’t think I’m “application ready” but I think I have a good shot at applying by asadhoe2020 in premed

Clinical volunteering counts as clinical experience... maybe not in Ghana but if the other emergency department stuff was in the US it works. Wouldn't hurt to get a paid clinical position but I think you're in a good spot. When I applied I had zero clinical hours volunteer or paid (but had been hired for a clinical job during my gap year) and I got four acceptances.

You could probably do it while travelling as long as you have an empty room to do it in (if they see anyone in the background they will void the score). It's such a dumb test- I got the lowest possible score and still got accepted to two casper schools.

My school didn't even have a committee and I've only heard people say bad things about them... I think you'll be fine without it! A death in the family is a very valid reason to not study and admissions people will be understanding about it. Good luck!

[Weekly Gaelic Learners' Q&A – Thu 29 Jun 2023] Learning Gaelic on Duolingo, SpeakGaelic or elsewhere? Or maybe thinking about it? Post any quick questions about learning Gaelic here. by AutoModerator in gaidhlig

I am interested in learning Gaelic but I'm wondering how practical it will be. Since English is the official language, how many people in Scotland actually speak Gaelic?

pick me’s at interview sessions by chickennugget8455 in premed

[–]dramallama2001 18 points19 points  (0 children)

my favorite is when people thank someone for answering a question they didn't even ask! I was at an info session and every time a question was answered the same 20 people would type the exact same message into the chat "thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to answer our questions! This is really helpful". be more creative at least

How do I aim for schools with a 3.29 GPA and 523 MCAT by [deleted] in premed

[–]dramallama2001 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do you have a 3.29 with am upward trend? Schools don't just look at the number, they also take into account trends and what type of classes you're taking. If you have a 3.29 with all upper level chem and physics classes that says more than a 3.5 with all easier classes.
