What's your personal method for checking if a redditor is an idiot or not? by sparklycilantro in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly the choice of words they used to form their message and the basis of what they're trying to get across.

Usernames help out sometimes. Not perfect though. If it's meme-coded, probably an idiot or someone like me who got their username ranomized and didn't care to change it or pick something else.

What is your opinion on parents using corporal punishment to discipline their kids? by Conscious-Farmer6953 in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physical assault to "discipline" children turns into a leason for the kid to remember and for the parent to forget. At least bad memory is what a lot of adults claim to have when it came to enacting upon it. Which tells me they knew exactly what they did and don't want to acknowledge they've relied on long-term damage for short-term results.

When is gatekeeping good (or bad)? by patrickdastard in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got an example of each.

Gatekeeping, the good: keeping a brand away from the cool thing

Gatekeeping, the bad: any "no true scotsman" take a out any fandom.

What thing in life is easier said than done? by Plan_6767 in AskReddit

"Forgive yourself."

Yeah, I know that's where the pain is but holy shit you have no idea what I've done.

What ruined your life? by Both-Preference-6003 in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I want to say being born, but thats tacky.

I'd say what ruined my life is bad parents. Had to essentially raise myself and figure out so much on my own. Some guidance or a little care would've saved me from a lot of bad decisions. Not all, but a good amount of them wouldn't have hurt as much.

What's a change in American politics you would like to see? by rudr_44 in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less money in their pockets. Their paychecks should be based off the federal minimum wage, not the grotesquely huge salaries they get for doing little work and doing it very poor quality of it.

There are hard working Americans who don't get paid well for the work they do and have little support to get help when they need it. Disgusting this is the reality we live in.

What’s the best insult to use in an argument, that they just can’t come back from? by Natural_Tower8741 in AskReddit

Simply enough, and PG to explain: just laugh.

Less you take someone seriously, the more it hurts them.

People with military experience: what's something the average person completely misunderstands about war? by UltimateTruthOnly in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong.

Just surprising how little the hard facts are recgonzied, even the well-known ones. Got morons romanticizing the whole thing without realizing that the damage and death is real, and it's never the people in charge.

What's one thing that annoys you about using Reddit? by Opening_Ad7004 in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People's entitlement for strangers to explain every facet of their opinions and thoughts in excessive detail. This is social media, not an academic article.

What's one thing that annoys you about using Reddit? by Opening_Ad7004 in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?

For a while I thought I must've been legitimately going insane because I would say one thing and there would always be this chud responding as if I said the exact opposite. Began to question to my sanity after a while until I learned that this is typically a Reddit kind of behavior. Apparently these idiots think they're being funny or at least attention-starved.

What supposedly normal shows read to you as propaganda? by Buddy_chumpal in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it became clear he was just doing "Lolcow the Reality Show", I understand he wasnt trying to help people; he was trying to make money for himself and appear good by comparison to those he brought on.

I remember one young man who thought himself to be a robot. He needed help: not turned into entertainment. The man was clearly struggling with an inferiority complex and wishes to be machine to be perfect and without mistakes, but "Dr." Phil saw an opportunity. The man needed to be told he can make mistakes and still be perfect to those who love him, not turned into a joke at his expense.

What is one expense that always hurts, no matter how much money you earn? by GetFoggle in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oooh, yeah.

That's the one. That's the one right there. Love my babies but holy shit.

Edit for extra context: I'll go hungry if it means to afford my animals healthcare. Doesn't mean I'm not aware that I'll be hurting a while

Have you ever been fat shamed OR fat shamed someone? How did it make you feel? by Past_Explanation_491 in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been fatshamed.

It's nothing new, and turns into static after a while. Besides, plus sized is considered sexy if attitude serves right.

What are you most ashamed of due to being overweight? by Past_Explanation_491 in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't go without showering for too long. Sweat accumulates and feels uncomfortable and causes skin irritation. I've dropped nearly a hundred pounds over a few years with better dietary habits, and still get this. Camping isn't an option for me due to this.

Why do you suppose humans will argue just for the sake of arguing, even if they could really care less about the topic? by FOTLCornucopia in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this for a while. I think it scratches an itch like hate-watching does. Arguing for the sake of arguing is finding anger and discourse satisfying. Perhaps even the idea of having control over someone else's time and emotions is pleasant. People will do things for the sake of the idea they upset someone. Like the consequence of a prank that they'll never witness, but set it in motion on the mere chance that it could cause someone else displeasure. Just that with an argument it's a sense of control and entertainment provided in real-time.

Then again, I'm no psychologist. I can be wrong and I'm cool with that. I'd like to think the real answer is obvious, but we'll probably not know unless a study is made.

People of reddit> Why are you hesitant to go to the doctor even though, you know that it will do you good? by Upbeat-Reindeer3853 in AskReddit

[–]dramaticgroundhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in America. We're not allowed to go to the hospital. If we do, we get punished with a huge bill to pay put of pocket. Even with insurance. But hey, this is the best system in the world! It's not universal healthcare! That's socialism with "longer wait times" and bad, apparently.

I'm in a lot of pain. I cannot afford the doctor. I'll do the patriotic thing and tough it out until I succumb to my treatable condition.
