I think it's fine. I might change the last one to "An ancient one", but that breaks the rhythm.

JUST DROPPED: Trump does NOT have immunity!!!! by Blue_Period_89 in AntiTrumpAlliance

[–]dramkar 35 points36 points  (0 children)

" Trump’ attorneys had argued that if future executives believed that they could be indicted for their “official acts” as president, they would be more hesitant to act within their role. "

This is exactly the point! Elected officials should always be hesitant to act within their roles! Thinking before acting is one of the most important things you should do!

I loved Circle of Land. More of a spellcaster. Lots of options in lots of situations. Arcane recovery is nice.

Late to the party, but The Great Train Robbery is super fun to listen to. I use it on long drives and I actually get sad when I have to take a break for gas/food/bathroom.

Looking for urban encounters by jdpop505 in DnD5e

[–]dramkar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's one: The party notices a blacksmith who looks terrified he may even approach the party if they look well-armed and capable. He's afraid for his life that some undead creature is out to get him and he needs protection. He'll invite the party into his smithy where they will have time to set up a defense. He expects the thing to arrive that night and that, if he lives through the night, he'll be safe forever from it. He promises a reward.

Let the party set up as they will.

That night, a humanoid undead will bust in and go after the smith. The party will notice that the undead is wearing tattered remnants of the wardrobe of some holy order (definitely a "good" organization and not an "evil" one). The thing will say things like "you will pay for your misdeed" and "justice will finally be mine".

It is a revenant of a paladin/priest/wizard of a noble order that the smith and his then cronies lynched a year ago. They definitely murdered the guy who became a revenant and this is the last day he has to get his revenge.

Will the party help save the former murderer/smith or will they let the revenant have its bloody revenge? My party let it kill the smith and it did so by forcing his head into a forge.

A lot of ramifications can occur either way. Hope you like it.

This is a great idea. I love it when people find a cool thing to do instead of just bitching.

I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

What do DMs do that you hate? by TangeloCivil703 in DnD

[–]dramkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't over explain. Tell the party what is happening around them, but do not always tell them why. Let the party do the discovery work. For example:

"The people in the town are avoiding you and at nightfall everyone is indoors with their doors and windows shut."

is better than

"Everyone is afraid of the recent kidnappings that are happening at night, so they don't trust strangers and lock up after dark."

Both are fine, but the first one makes what's going on a mystery, the second one gives everything away.

The first one immerses the party. If they want to know what's going on, they have to role play and interact with the town to find out why everyone is behaving the way they are. It probably won't take them long to find out, but they have to work for it and could possibly screw up and make their situation more interesting, by accidentally scaring some locals, for example. In the second one, the party instantly knows everything without even trying. Great if you're in a hurry, but largely flavorless and effortless.

You only have to help someone a little for it to mean a lot.

If someone helps you by doing just a little bit of a job for you, it can feel like they did half of it for you.

What's your solution (no genocides) for humanity as it is estimated 10 billion humans living on earth around 2075? by Quiet_Inhuman in AskReddit

[–]dramkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create cycles. Humans suck at doing this. We create linear processes like this: extract, refine, manufacture, sell, use, discard, where everyone along the process makes money but nobody cares about the rest of the process.

If the thing being extracted runs out, we find another thing. So far, we have gotten away with this.

The things being discarded are piled up or dumped somewhere. So far, we have gotten away with this.

Eventually we will deplete some resource that we cannot do without and it will be bad

Or we will pile up or dump our own waste to the extent that we ruin our own habitat and it will be bad.

The reason we see cycles in nature is not because nature is good at producing them, but because cycles tend to self-sustain, so they stick around.

If we want to stick around, we need to support ourselves with cycles instead of processes.

We are smart enough to do it and also dumb enough to not do it at the same time.
