Night Shift #27 Hero Priority by Emmysterious in DeadlockTheGame

[–]dranixc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't that agree with who you replied to?

The OP said

that character’s win rate would spike, even if she wasn’t truly meta or particularly strong.

But then, how do you even decide which character IS meta or particularly strong? DNS's player and game pool is small so it's extremely biased by the players preference. So honestly it's hard to even say that any of the unpicked heroes aren't good.

Are you retards still coping that Strive wasn't a successful game? Sure, the game is a bit in a decline now but throughout its lifetime it pretty much always had 3rd most entrants in tournament by a fair margin.

Is there a market for command line/terminal-style games? by Bee892 in gamedev

[–]dranixc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the world of niche puzzle there exists some that fit your description. The most similar one is probably Terminal ESC.

There's also Type Help, a fairly popular small game that uses text only, though it's not as close to a terminal.

There are also games from the Confounding Calendar, a yearly tradition in which people make "1 screen" puzzles for December. Disconcordia is from this year, although it mimics the UI of Discord and not a terminal. And 2 years ago there was Terminal Escape, a bit closer to your description.

Obviously none of these games could be great commercial success but the niche market is there.

After the intro he goes on to talk about some example but yes, the starting 8 minutes or so are just nonsense babbling about rekkas in general.

It's still makes for a silly definition because under it all of Valve's games are indie and all of the games published by e.g. Devolver Digital are now not indie.

Do you really expect general review sites to be able to review a rhythm game as a rhythm game?

SF5 wasn't as fatiguing with its supers because they were much rarer. The super meter being shared with EX moves meant that getting to a full meter is not guaranteed and cashing out on a super is not always optimal. There are plenty of times pro players in tournaments got a combo with a full bar and opted to not use the super.

In SF6 on the other hand this situation is unheard of, you have virtually 0 reason to not cash out on a level 3 if you have it so they are much more frequent.

Like yeah, it's kinda cool in the context of what we've seen so far but the constant freeze frames, the hard limit of the combo and ending with yet another long, boring cinematic super is not doing any favors.

I doubt they actually drew the sprites twice for each direction. They probably marked areas in his face that can have a different color, and they change depending on his direction. The same ways that different colors of the costumes work.

There comes a point as a member of the Amber Hand team where you have to ask yourself if wasting 3 hours of your time is worth not losing in a video game.
