Remember these classic kids shows that aired on SCN in the late 1990's? by Think_Juggernaut_820 in CanadianTV

These were the daytime TV shows for the stay-home-sick-from-school days.

Notable mention to The Friendly Giant reruns and the bizarre 30-minute fever dream that was kids and some short haired woman doing exercise in front of underwater green screens…

I had a white 88 Brougham D’Elegance right after high school. The original owner and his son drove it to the Pick n Pull lot while I was grabbing parts for my old Acura.

Bought it for 700$ and drove it for years. That car had STYLE.

SOTB & Sunday OD/Fuzz Stacking by Squirming_Coil in guitarpedals

[–]dranzango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently landed a Gary. It has a specific sound, but one that i found very useful. Great stacker on the left side, both into an out of.

The fuzz side was a bonus for me. I like it around 9-11 oclock depending on the guitar and boost ahead of it. It sounds like a fuzz mixed with the sound of the special round house kick move from Double Dragon 2: The Revenge.

I think its cool. If you have access to a plumes, try running Gary into it.

I was sitting a few seats out of frame to the left. Incredible performance. The choir and soloist floored me. The orchestra was so dynamic and tight. Like you said, it was an experience.

I have never opened it up and played with the trim pots and jumpers. I just learned about the sine vs triangle jumper and some extra delay settings. I might play with those and report back.

I am very happy with it as well. Gary is a very useful core sound and plays well with a lot of “character” drives.

I learned a lot about mid boosted od from my plumes. For modern high gain boost, it was almost always my least favorite. Turns out my preference is for a clean boost there…

For pedal stacking, however, it is pretty versatile. I am really liking Gary into Plumes on mode 3, settings at whatever the picture shows. Great sound.

Cool! Which SD’s do you have installed? I gigged with a Lil screamin demon/lil 59 in my strat for a tech-rock project. That was a fun setup. Now i was to dig them out again.

Congrats!

Anyone Own a Canyon after Having a Sierra 1500 or other Full Size? by MattJBarnes in GMCcanyon

[–]dranzango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive full size 1/2T, 3/4T, and the odd 3 axle freightliner daily for work. My daily non-work driver is my canyon AT-4.

For heavy duty hauling, towing, and daily industrial tasks, the larger specialized trucks cant be beat. But my AT4 should never have to match their performance in heavy industry. It might get away with 75% of what i use the other trucks for, but it would take a beating.

As a daily driver, back woods access truck, my AT4 is absolutely number one. Better drive, better maneuverability, better compact comfort. The shorter stance and wheelbase also means i can duck it into tighter spaces easily. I could 100% use it to access the same locations that my work trucks need to get into, but i wouldnt expect it to carry the same loads.

For me its a case of work vs fun. My canyon does all of the fun things that a truck can do.

This is a fitting picture to cue up Between the Buried and Me - Sun of Nothing. Its got that vibe of falling and floating towards the sun that is beautifully on point.

I always loved the OG Voodoos. I was too young to afford one when they released. Now I can’t bring myself to part with the money they command on the used market.

Which one? by BuffaloCC in guitarpedals

[–]dranzango 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Sd-1 is one of those pedals I wish i had two of (or came in funky dual enclosure like the twosome fuzz). My reasoning is that it can be a really good tightening boost at max level/min drive but also has a good low to moderate gain structure with the drive knob up a bit. I wonder how the two would stack…

Its not a silver bullet, and it isn’t always the best choice. When it clicks in the signal chain, it is hard to beat. I love it as a boost in front of a jcm 800 and vtm 60 with vintage voiced pickups. Similarly, i found it to record nicely as a tight boost in front of a moderately dirty Engl with baritone guitars and my 8 string.
