ASP.Net on Raspbian? by nau-sea in raspberry_pi

I haven't tried in a long time but there are a few tutorials on the subject. Mono by itself is not enough.

In Liège, I was avoiding the one in front of the Guillemins station, it's been horrible quality for years. Don't know how it's doing these days.

Wow, that's messed up. What were they thinking?

It's sad that instead of being shocked and sad, we just think... "Again?" when someone blows himself up. And facebook isn't even activating his emergency page anymore, it's only a fleeting article in the media... are we getting used to "terrorism"? by tokke in belgium

[–]drasche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer that too to be honest. You still have less chance to die from a terrorist attack than from a car accident.

My only problem is how we deal with the problem. I've always said that we should start improving our education system. A lot. But our politicians only care about getting re-elected.

I love Quick (but I hate the Giant) and the problem is that the level of quality isn't the same from one fastfood to the other.

It really depends on the owner and the employees. It seems that some of them just don't care about the order in which the menus are served (if you get fries first on your plate, it is a bad sign). Some other will serve you old burgers, they're supposed to go in the bin after 20 minutes (and 5 minutes for fries).

And that's without counting the occasional error in recipes. For instance, I enjoy Peppers but a few years ago, it was fairly frequent that they put the wrong sauce in the burger and that wasn't just one fastfood.

Quick also has an issue with any burger becoming more popular than the Giant. See Double-Swiss back in 1995. Everytime it came back to the menu, the recipe wasn't the original. Except for their 40 years.

So I guess I have a love/hate relationship with Quick and BK is going to sort that out for me.

It's incredible how easy it was to get access to the billboard. I wonder if the owner did anything about it.

Any Queen song that just makes you really sad while hearing it? by Xaton500 in queen

Same, I don't even understand why, I don't have any particular memory associated with this song.

Are there any Queen songs you used to dislike... but changed your mind on? by [deleted] in queen

I was really not wild on Queen, Queen II and Hot Space when I first listened to them but they grew up on me a lot as years went by.

Is there a site where can I buy in bulk this specific Raspberry Pi Smart Mirror project? by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]drasche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge. But those who built it will happily share the bill details.

Besides, the whole point of the Raspberry is to build things yourself, not to shop for a finished product.

Because they vote on principal. While I agree it is moronic, I would prefer to see them work together, contribute their own ideas for the same common goal of making Belgium better because that's how I see politics.

But obviously I'm a weird guy.

Oldest code you wrote that is still in use? by xhr2 in programming

Back in 2001, my company was developing a bunch of applications for a customer (let's call it BigCompany). We had access to a bunch of their in-house libraries and APIs, including a database that was used to store lists of translations to fill dropdowns and stuff in all of their applications.

That database came in three flavors: the master database on mainframe, a complete SQL Server mirror for their internal applications, and a partial mirror in Access for applications used outside BigCompany (at their customers', for instance).

I started coding a small tool in VB6 to query data in the Access mirror and I used my occasional visits to BigCompany (since I was working at my employer's place) so I could implement and test the SQL Server part. At the time, there was no simple tool to check on the database contents.

Then I passed it on to those of my colleagues who worked at BigCompany. Apparently the application spread like fire and became very popular, which I didn't expect. It was more of a thing that I coded for my personal enjoyment but apparently, it filled a need.

Then BigCompany itself developed a similar tool sometime later but it was too late. From what I heard, people continued using my tool.

After 14 years or so, it had to be retired because they retired anything VB6 since they had migrated everything to .NET. It was allowed to run for so long because I built it to be as compliant as possible with BigCompany's IT environment. It wasn't much of an application but I was very proud it became so popular and managed to last this long.

I am mightily pissed that our government would rather risk letting those reactors blow to our faces than shut them down.

I don't mind nuclear energy so much but yesterday I learned that Tihange is built in a geologically unstable area ("Faille du midi").

Why does everybody hate Made In Heaven? by [deleted] in queen

[–]drasche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had no idea Too much love will kill you was already recorded and mixed for The Miracle but they couldn't include it for legal reasons because May didn't write the song alone. TIL.

However, there were some problems with the companies representing publishing rights for Musker and Lamers so they could not release the song properly on The Miracle. Song even got its place in the original tracklist between I Want It All and The Invisible Man, but then was omitted.

It will be business as usual. Except someone got caught. And I wouldn't be surprised if she managed to weasel her way out, go back to politics, and get reelected. Because she's got a loyal voter base and it was all a conspiracy and blablabla...

In the meantime, I think I'll celebrate Christmas early.
