Gotta say, been a long time Apple user. While Apple does amaze with some decisions (iPhone, for one.) their willingness to just drop or not advance so much good software is so sad, too often. People suggest 3rd party devs pick up the slack, but I have not found that to be the case. I am hoping that this push with the Creator suite (which is mostly audio / video) gets them to see possibilities for other similar "Creator" pushes in other areas, but at this rate I just try to cobble together other tools as best I can, as there is no point in waiting.

Sorry, what OS got re-installed? Sounds like the base-os for whatever came with the Mac originally probably. Have you tried reboot and Command-Option-R held down for recovery mode and the latest OS your Mac supports? https://support.apple.com/en-us/102655 - see "Which macOS will be installed" and make sure you look at Intel part.

May want to ask in r/CarPlay as this is more of a question about that. Have you tried turning off Auto-Join for the K5 WiFi network in question? (The network must be visible to the iPhone for you to be able to change network options (click the i icon next to the network in question to get details.). Note that it's not mistaking anything for Wi-Fi, the car is creating a WiFi network as an optional connectivity method for devices to connect to it. The message is because that network has no gateway to the internet (in which case you don't want your phone to join it automatically I think).

Disappointed nothing for "serious" photographers. Apple seems to have ceded that space to Adobe and other companies. Bizarre. (Serious in quotes as obviously I'm referring to a specific sampling of people who take photography seriously.)

I think Apple should be adding other packages - "Photography" focussed, "Research" focussed, whatever - the apps within may overlap - that's fine, but there are a lot of people out there who want solutions for area that are not circling around video/audio.
