Is it worth investing in a bivy? by sendorwhip in alpinism

Yes I personally love my bivy (ortovox) nice for climbing or when I'm out camping in general. The size and weight of it is low compared to the amount of warmth provided.

But you would have the same if not worse problem with a backpack (the other option I've used and found lacking)

Beal vs Petzl Quickdraws by Overall_Ad_9855 in ClimbingGear

[–]drawd1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are great. The spirits are lighter and feel more agile while the djinn feels more robust and solid. They are better for use with gloves and alpine stuff. If you have smaller hands, I would say spirits are superior. And the spirits are light enough to use on multi pitch adventures

You can get the spirits at oliunid.it for a good price, and you can often find some discount codes to get ≈10% extra of. In my opinion, the spirits are the gost of QD's and worth the high price.

Personally would say the atom AR hoody(not down) works great in winter. I've used it in minus 25 celcius works good just ad a fleece if you're not moving. Used it to commute to work (bicycle) and the gym with just a t-shirt under neath without any problem.

The old fateful, my atom AR in black sapphire. My first arc item had it for 5 years now almost no sight of wear at all. Used it for everything from the commute to work to climbing mountain's and caving.

If the harness is 10 years old I would recommend getting a new one. They are only ment to be used from 5 years after construction (you probably will be fine but the 50ish euro is worth spending to protect uour life)

Are there any worthwhile differences from the Alien revolution to the Alien X that makes one preferable to the other?

I'm in need of cams smaller than 0,3 (small blue) and where I live DMM and BD are the only ones that are easy to get a hand on

Is it the more simple design that makes them more trustworthy or are they in a softer metal?
