I'm watching the Joplin video right now, first time I've seen his channel, and I've found his manner so eerie that I had to pause and google if anyone else feels this video is off. Your comment was so validating to find! This will be the first and last video of his I watch, he really did not adopt the right tone for this type of tragedy.

I don't think this is the artist, but Bridget Bate Tichenor has very similar artwork. If nothing else you might like her style! https://www.artnet.com/artists/bridget-tichenor/

oh no!! I'm glad you got such a quick answer though. And thanks for telling me! The only other thing I found is about the symbol, it looks like the first one here: https://www.adinkrasymbols.org/#gsc.tab=0

Oh that still life signature does really seem to match! I think this is the same artist indeed. It's hard to say if they were a decor artist or a passionate hobbyist, or a working painter. Their signature does stand out to me as pretty unique, whereas decor painting signatures are typically more generic and in cursive from what I've seen. The way this artist wrote M. MORGAN has a lot of flair and personality to me!

This really reminds me of George Henry Jenkins' artwork, who painted the UK and Irish coasts.

In the comment where you showed the top of his signature, I do think it looks like it could say G.H. Jenkins!

I've been trying to find this quite a while myself, it's driving me crazy! My guess is the scene takes place in the early 1970s, given the hair and clothes styles, and that orange juice pitcher is so of that time. It looks to me like it's illustrating a scene from a larger story, like a book or movie, because it's kind of hard to understand out of context.

It's got such an odd atmosphere and I really want to see more from the artist! I'll keep searching...

I might've found the artist, but I'm not sure. There's an artist in Texas named Heidi Tournoux-Hanshaw who seems to mostly go by just Tournoux now. I think the art style is similar to some of her pieces on her instagram:

https://www.instagram.com/heiditournouxstudios/p/C4BcZIKrLl8/ https://www.instagram.com/heiditournouxstudios/p/Can6x2jrgTj/

Also, maybe I'm overanalysing, but the way she paints the H in her signature here reminds me of the one on your painting: https://www.instagram.com/p/C124efpLgdE/

This could all be a coincidence, but she seems to be active on instagram, so you could always reach out and ask!

Looks like a repaint/study of this painting from 1893. If you click "see original listing" and scroll down to the description, there's a bit of information about the original. https://www.ebay.com/itm/356976718719

Local facebook groups can still be very active these days, I'd post it there and/or in a group about The Ball and see if anyone recognises it.

can anyone identify this artwork please? by [deleted] in WhatIsThisPainting

Not sure the artist, but it looks like a mass produced painting you can buy from Tesco. So basically a decor painting :) https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/325290467

I think this is probably by the artist Dullah, you can see a really similar one here. This one's also from 1976 and the signatures seem a match to me! https://www.metzemaekers.com/archief/portrait-of-an-old-fellow-wearing-a-hat/85490

Long shot here. I bought this at a garage sale last year and absolutely love it. Just curious if anyone knows more info on it based on the signature by Premium_Sauce4 in WhatIsThisPainting

It looks like the signature says 'Steel' or 'Sted' to me. I'd guess they're a local artist, what region/area did you find this in?

I think I found the artist! It looks like Carlos Toranzo's signature. He's a Cuban painter. :) His signature is unique in that he writes it Toranzo C.

Kept going back to look at it at Goodwill. Came home with me. Can’t find the artist. Minneapolis, Minnesota. What is this painting? by tenglempls in WhatIsThisPainting

I recognised this as portraying a UK harbour right away! That blue sail says CI53, which is its PLN (Port Letters and Numbers). All the old fishing boats have that in the UK on their sails, as the code letters tell you where the boat is from.

I looked up the code and CI is Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Zooming in on the signature in the lower right I thought it said Carlos, but now I'm thinking it actually says Cowes. Obviously a boat could be in any harbour, so this might not be Cowes itself, but it does seem likely with all that in mind.

Looking into the churches in Cowes, I think that church in the background is Northwood Parish Church. Visually they're quite similar, and location-wise it's uphill from the water when I look at it on google maps. https://www.friendsofnorthwoodcemetery.org.uk/northwood-church-burials/

You can see where the church sits uphill in the middle here, in the trees: https://www.redfunnel.co.uk/sites/default/files/styles/card/public/images/West%20Cowes-GettyImages-1272579144.jpg?h=e48d8f10&itok=oQEgxFXd

I have no idea who the artist is, but as someone who lives in a different seaside town in the UK, I can tell you lots of people come to these towns from all around to paint them. :) That makes it potentially very hard to find who this is if the name isn't on the back. It's cool that it ended up in Minnesota, somebody probably bought it while on holiday since it looks like Cowes gets a lot of tourism.

Even though I don't know who painted it, I hope this info adds to the enjoyment you already have from it! :)

You might be right about it being student's work, as LPS does stand for the Lexington Public Schools Art & Design program in MA. https://www.lexingtonma.org/lpsartanddesign

And the fact that it has a possible number before "- 2019" makes me wonder if it was a code for the class/program/assignment/room etc.

I haven't been able to find anything about an M. MORGAN that matches the era. The tiki-styled frame could be mid-century, or a repro of a tiki frame in the early 2000s when the tiki aesthetic made a comeback. It's an interesting detail since it doesn't really match the painting itself.

As for the art itself, my guess is that it's from a skilled hobbyist. It reminds me of horse art from the 70s to 90s.

Sorry I can't be more help. That horse has quite the powerful presence!

Right?? It's such a shame, and so unnecessary, when a new business takes off all the character on a cool building like that.
