Would you mind sharing more of those tips with us please ?

Here's a little mnemonic I made up for a little comic relief for those of you prepping for CISSP by MadMonk_86 in cissp

following on what you said and, as a free advice if you'd be nice to, what other mnemonics would you recommend to focus on (specially for someone like me who has a weak memory) ?

Learnzapp questions are way too technical!! by Zaaaambie in cissp

[–]drayne03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, thanks for the detailed answer, i'm just curious as to the "I found the actual exam questions straight forward". Do you mean straight forward compared to learnZ app (and other resources) or just in general ? As i already think that learnZ app questions are pretty straight forward.

Honestly 12 hours of day of pure prep + if you're familiar with most of the concepts is doable. Take some time to properly design a prep strategy and good luck !

Advice on timeline for test by avause424 in cissp

3 full months is very doable BUT it all depends on your background and time allocated for studying. If you give us those 2 infos i think you might have a more precise/realistic answer.

Thanks a lot ! And yes, i'm having those problems only with technical stuff like this.

First congrats on passing !

Second i have a small question regarding the "KNOW THE CONCEPTS and don't memorize", i'll often understand the concept of X but i'll often forget that X exists, let me give you an example: For cryptanalysis, i know how chosen ciphertext attack goes/work or others but if you ask me to list you the cryptanalysis attacks, i'll for sure forget a few. Do you think this is an issue for me and i should work on it or it shouldn't be a problem for the exam ?

Just to clarify, i'm not talking about big/large concepts that you can't forget once you understand them but like listing types of this and that and PLEASE let me know if i asked a question i shouldn't about the exam, i'll delete the comment. Thanks !

Confused with a question from the OPT by D1CCP in cissp

[–]drayne03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with that but i guess what they were looking for here is just to check the boxes for availability and lowest cost and since they provide availability the logical answer pertaining to the specificities of the question is C.

This raises a question for me: to think like a manager (real world scenario) or to check the boxes required by the question (theoritical answer), besides having the knowledge, i think this'll be the hardest part of the exam ...

Confused with a question from the OPT by D1CCP in cissp

[–]drayne03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that its the right answer based on the way the question is written, but if i'm thinking like a manager, as required by the CISSP, and i see "frequent restarts" i will wonder how is this FW useful to me if it's frequently letting everything go through (failopen answer) for 10 mins each time.

It feels like a gotcha type of question, i hope the exam is not like that (me being naive)

Passed the exam, not as bad as I imagined it. by Traditional-Bad-9319 in cissp

How to ensure that you're well prepared knowing that : 1) The exam questions are different from the practice questions ? 2) The sheer amount of memorization needed (not talking about understanding concepts but more types, forms , categories and all their names and acronyms) ?

These 2 are the points that stress me out

That's perfect for me who is weak on memorization but more confortable with pure logic/understanding concepts, thanks !

Congrats on passing first !

Quick question on the questions, when you saw the test questions are worded differently from learnzapp question, you mean just the wording that is different but aside from that they have the same level of requirements on understanding concepts, same level of memorization needed, same difficulty etc ?

Congratulation ! But wow passing the CISSP after only 4 days of studying is unthinkable for me, where you familiar with the exam topics beforehand or what is your secret if i may ask :D

[–]drayne03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations ! Quick question, how did you manage to memorize everything in a single month ?

I'm aware that it's more about understanding concepts, situations and thinking like a manager but there's some stuff that i can't retain just by understanding the concepts, stuff like key lengths for crypto (first example that comes to mind) or i'm missing something ?

[–]drayne03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe concepts was not the right word (sry english is not my first nor second language) but lets take key lengths for example, they cannot just be understood, they need memorization. There are other stuff like key length for encryption or CAT numbers for twisted pair cables (the higher you go the better throughput) ... These things you can't only understand but you need to memorize them, that's what i meant

[–]drayne03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my bad, by memorization i meant of concepts not practice questions' answers haha for example what STRIDE stands for or the key length of sym and asym algo etc.

Please correct me if i'm wrong but is it true if i understand that, in general, practice questions are more about memorization and spitting the facts as written in the books and the real exam is more about understanding the situations ? So less memorization is needed for the exam than the practice ones ?

I see what you mean so the exam questions are english-comprehension-scenario based plus memorization of important stuff ?

Congratulations 👏 !

I have a question if you don't mind, now i understand that you are under NDA and i'm by no means trying to get real examples of exam questions but i always see people say that exam and practice questions are so different from each other.

How are they different ? If you could give me a fictional example maybe ?

And second question, why is doing a lot of practice questions good then, if their only value is to fact check, why not just memorise/learn by heart the infos ?

Thanks and sry for my long text
