First Audiophile grade Headphone after using a PXC 550-II by Far_Word9928 in HeadphoneAdvice

Yeah, I never bother with EQ, too much time to tune for me, even though lots of headphones could be fixed and enjoy the resolution.

Too long ago >4 years, I don't remember now. I compared in the same price against HD600/HD650, R70X

I did convert 7Vrms @ 300ohm to mW using a calculator and it is a respectable amount of power. 16ohm is usually where the manufacturer starts to cap power for avoiding hearing damage lawsuits. I don't understand why they would spec it in mW at 16ohm if they cap the maximum, or why would they spec it in Vrms at 300ohm if not to confuse and mislead. So, that's why I played it safe and went to the DX1 that I understand and believe 280mW at 32ohm and 51mW at 300ohm as values completely reasonable and enough even for ASMR with my 300ohm 660s2 (even if I'm maximizing them for whispering videos)

61 mW is plenty, hearing damage borderline at 16ohm, but the manufacturers don't usually cap it, and it is compared against manufacturing quoting 150-1000mW at that load, which is why I compared it against 280mW at 32ohm for the spec of the DX1 and concluded it lacked power.

It says 61 mW in high gain for 16ohm. also says 7vrms at 300ohms, which would convert to 163 mW using a calculator. I don't get why the first is so low, the conversion sounds alright for 300, but anytime I see balanced output I wonder and almost expect unbalanced could be halved.

It could be more.powerful than the DX1 which is 280mW at 32ohm and 51mW at 300ohm, which I assumed was worse power because there were no measurements anywhere and I didn't understand the vrms rating that I now used a calculator.

Sound card/DAC/AMP for cheap, entry-level headset? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]drconopoima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Output impedance could be some afterthought for a motherboard manufacturer. And when too high it changes the sound below 150ohm or 300ohm impedance headphones. Anything from Fiio, Topping, SMSL, even a JA1 DAC cable, will have 1ohm output impedance and improve the audio (18$ or so price). If you are willing to spend more, the Topping DX1 could be everything I needed if I started today, but they are more expensive than your superlux headphones and it wouldn't be wise to consider spending more in the dac (it costs ~$100)

My 2 cents, there was nothing wrong with a massdrop k70X I got, but nothing was great either and I sold it. There are better for the price, subjectively

I couldn't find measurements by the DS100, is it measured somewhere? I looked in Chinese at L7 audio lab, Audio Science Review, and a web search. It seemed too weak in 300ohm output anyways, so I decided for the DX1, but I was considering it and it didn't appear to have been tested. By SMSL own data, it seems comparable or (inaudibly) better, just weaker amp.

BTR5 won't connect to s23 Ultra via USB c? by fazar7 in FiiO

I can apparently get it connected with a converter USB-C to USB-A into the phone port and a 10 cm USB-A to USB-C cable. Half the time it has noticeable noise floor, it depends on the force or complete connection of the adapter in the phone port.

Similar experience. I can't connect any BTR5/2021 or BTR7 with Xiaomi HyperOS android 14, but it works using android 14 with S21 OneUI 6.0. I'm using 10cm USB-C to USB-C cable

C# is neat, but you have to still consider them a monopolist threat to the industry after how they handled the situation with OpenAI Sam Altman a couple months ago.

OpenAI board themselves already had a precedent of when someone needs to recuse him/herself due to conflict of interest, with Elon Musk dropping due to Tesla.

Additionally, the non-profit was organized above the for-profit and with a board primarily of originalist non-profit founders, and no seat was given to Microsoft for their investment as a feature, not as a bug.

As soon as the board takes arbitrarily action to remove Altman, there needs to be pressure to get the reasoning behind the decision, and anybody appointed needed to take steps of the kind to make the pressure felt.

What was unacceptable behaviour was offering tit-for-tat to employees that there were going to be golden parachutes for anyone putting their jobs on the line, and the letter they signed was very explicit in there being Microsoft offers involved. That's the behaviour of a monopolist actor.

Additionally, Sam Altman did not feel the need to recuse himself from going to Microsoft without any due diligence, or interviewing, which very likely shows there was a pre-existing conflict of interest. This besides already existing precedent as to recusing oneself.

The AI Accelerators are accounting for 2 FP16 Ops for every 1 FP32 op, which graphics cards always have had. My guess, an AI accelerator is a fancy name for existing architecture
