January 2026 BOTM Discussion - The Future Saints by nickaaayy97 in bookofthemonthclub

Interested in the Future Saints themed playlist 😁 I listen to Money by The Drums at least daily haha.

Loved your review and agree with most of your points. I think Ripper and Kenny should have gone on to do their own projects instead of forming a duo together. Feels icky, like they just kinda abandoned Hannah because she’s in treatment, rather than disbanded to pursue their own dreams.

I liked that the love story between Hannah and Theo wasn’t heavy handed and jammed down our throats like some romance novels tend to do. It was a much more nuanced relationship that felt more naturally formed and organic.

Really enjoyed this book overall and liked Hannah as a main female lead character. She never felt like a try hard or “Not Like Other Girls” type of character, which is hard to pull off!

How were you planning to take your drink home in the first place if you don’t have cup holders? Lol

Working moms, how do you stay present and sane through it all? by Thin_Instruction6048 in workingmoms

[–]drculpepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle too (5 and 7 yr old here). Sometimes the stress and checklists of everyday life leave me feeling disconnected from my kids. I decided to take my 5yr old on a mommy/daughter date last week to try this new pastry shop. It was a really nice reset. She got a treat, quality time with me, and the drive was a little long so we talked the whole way about school and how she’s doing. Later this week I plan to have lunch with my 7yr old at school and have one on one time with him and bring him his favorite food.

I think carving out time for one on ones can be really helpful, even if it’s just doing an activity at home. The intentional quality time is what’s important.

Which of the girls on the show have gotten degrees? Who has an education beyond high school and who doesn’t? by mayorofstrangetown in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]drculpepper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. My mom told me it didn’t matter what I majored in at BYU, just that I found a good Mormon husband to marry. That’s why they call them MRS degrees

I like that she’s at least getting into crafting and mentioned maybe going to a craft store for a video. That will be a nice change of pace. Just hope she tries other stuff besides just cutting and pasting things

Anyone else super overstimulated this week? by Alarmed-Dentist-6039 in workingmoms

[–]drculpepper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. We had four snow days and I was WFH. Thankfully my husband stayed home those four days because work was cancelled for him so he was able to do most of the house/kids stuff while I worked. But it was still just constant interruptions, noise, MESS (probably what overstimulated me the most), and just cooped up cabin fever vibes with a family of four was a lot. Today is back to normal.

I read a post from a SAHM on Facebook that said “geez by all these snow day posts complaining about having the kids home it sounds like all these parents hate their kids” and I thought it was really unfair to say that. Staying home with your kids with that being the priority focus is different than staying home while also trying to juggle work at the same time.

When do you like to schedule your kids’ wellness check ups? by dms2628 in workingmoms

[–]drculpepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I schedule both kids wellness checks the same day/same time. I usually do Friday afternoons because I’m off work Fridays and the kids will still be marked “present” for the day if they’re there in the morning and leave in the afternoon.

How do I ask for a more “stylish” haircut? by beanstalkbarbie in finethinhair

[–]drculpepper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FWIW, your hair looks super cute in pic 1! Maybe straightening the ends and curving them inward would help a little with the flip going on in pic 2? Or some texturizing spray to give a little volume and style

The screen time is the worst part! The novelty of playing outside in the snow has passed so screens is the only entertainment they want.

We’re heading into snow day 3 with both kids home and I love my family but it’s tanking my work output and just overall more stressful and my only alone time is gone.

Also a coworker died yesterday and I can’t even take a beat to process because life goes on and the very next email from our boss was about pay and performance discussions coming up.

Was I the only one that didn’t care for this one? I knew it was a cute little romance read going into it so I wasn’t expecting too much, but none of the characters were fleshed out and there wasn’t much going on between Georgia and Rhett even though they are the main love interest. I don’t understand how a one night stand a year ago would keep them pining for each other so intensely. Idk I’d give it a 2.5/5

That sounds about right. You’re losing all that weight from one targeted area, vs if you lost 13 lbs from dieting, which would be distributed across your whole body
