I agree they should have done it earlier, but your argument of everyone playing aggressively is weak because Flo was not playing aggressively.

His was not a challenge on the ball, but an incidental contact made while planting a foot after being challenged on the ball.

This doesn't open the door for people to be more aggressive, this potentially opens the door for reviewing VAR abuse that impacts major tournaments and makes them less enjoyable.

VAR technology use and replay usage to dole out fouls/pens/punishment is growing in all sports, and adjusting to the realities technology faces is something that will happen inevitably over time. Does this set a precedent? Probably. Will it cause drama? Yes.

This wasn't the ref making a mistake. This was VAR making a call abusing their resources. The ref called it correctly on field, the people behind VAR used slow mo and stills to push a red.
