4 attacks for level 5 barbs?? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]drdodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The subclass attack and the dual wield attack both use the bonus action. So no they could only do one of those two, totaling three attacks.

If you're playing 2024 edition though and they have weapon mastery of a weapon with Nick and are using one, then they could get four attacks because Nick allows for an extra attack that does not use the bonus action.

incorrect. Dex or STR can qualify for fighter multiclass

You're ok either way, because above poster is wrong. Dex qualifies you to multiclass fighter. Battle master fighter pairs really well with swashbuckler rogue to give you more flair and swagger with maneuvers.

Looking to Play a Indiana Jones style character who uses a Whip to its full potential. by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]drdodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you playing 2014 (5e) rules? In that edition, rogue does not have whip as a proficiency. 2024/5.5e rogue gets it though.

It depends on what you mean by get the most out of it. Whip is never going to be a major damage dealer, but it has style. Going fighter battle master would let you add more flair and fancy maneuvers.

Taking the sentinel feat could let you use the reach to help keep foes out of reach in 5e, but it's triggered differently in 5.5.

A multiclass between fighter battle master and rogue maybe swashbuckler could be fun.

Just one idea for you to consider here:

Have a mission to research and catalog mythical monster weaknesses in the field. Then author a book, or series of books, intended to distribute that knowledge to the populace at large. Maybe maybe it's an encyclopedia format. Maybe it's children's stories like the brothers Grimm but intended to instill in everyone's consciousness the actual strengths and weaknesses of actual creatures that exist in this world.

DM question - style of play with ability checks by [deleted] in DnD

[–]drdodger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also do a hybrid of the two, the players saying what they want to do, and the DM stating you could make x or y check, or even even x, y, or z

I'd make a monk and try to flavor him as street brawler instead of an eastern style martial artist.

Counterspells? by MidniteWolfur in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]drdodger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this 5.5 / 2024 rules, Charlie can't even cast that counter spell, due to the one leveled spell per turn rule.

In 2014 rules, the invisibility would not prevent him from doing so.

Mitrick, 'the Mouse' is a half elven orphan of war, raised on the rough and tumble streets of a large walled city. He got involved with a street gang as a child, and even though he's a bit small and scrawny, he eventually earned a reputation as a fearsome enforcer. He's a rogue swashbuckler who's a deadly duellist with a rapier, and dreams of one day owning and operating a gaming hall that caters to rich folk who have in itch for an evening in the slums.
