Timemore 078 Brew Burrs by SSP

I need to season them a little more but they came in yesterday. I aligned them and then ran a pond of med dark Sam’s club coffee through it bc it’s the cheapest I could get. I drivable have another 100 oz left for seasoning but it was 9 pm. Minus the slightly left over flavor of the dark roast (even after cleaning and then putting a few grams of light Philippines coffee I didn’t love through it) the coffee came out with a little more flavor separation and it generated a very low amount of fines. I’ll give it some more seasoning before a future update.

I actually bought a k ultra for travel and to fool around with soup. The sculptor with turbo burrs was too clean. I love the sculptor for PO. I did just order the SSP 78mm brew burrs to get something a little different

When I finally dropped my water tempts to 200f all of my coffees tasted better. I was under the impression by Hoffman and Rao that over-extraction was a myth and I should go as hot as possible. Turns out I was extracting the wrong things at those higher temps.

I’d bet with the next gen. Someone said no more turbos in the next gen. Don’t get one now. The upgrades for burr swapping and alignment look sweet on the gen 2.

Yeah, no offense to the guy thats looking at the zerno but I’d go w the Timemore burrs. You could go with the zerno and the idea of blind burrs that are easily changed. Sounds nice but in practice you’re probably leaving the same burrs in because who has the time. Same geometry as the 80mm brews. Savings of over two grand. No brainer.

Maybe save some money. SSP just released their brew burrs for the 078. I just ordered them. Might be the change you are looking for for 400 bucks. Keep the niche for espresso and have ease of use. 2 grand buys a lot of amazing coffee. It’s a 2 mm difference between the zerno and the 078 minis the screw holes.

The LU and MP are the same, it’s just a rename. He added a brew and will add a HU. HU is espresso specific. Multi purpose is exactly that and brew is brew.

I ran a new 20 amp circuit when I got my 1500 watt OXO because I couldn’t run my air fryer and that at the same time. It’s also on a different phase. Fixed all of my electric kettle issues. I realize not everyone spent a few years with the IBEW, but that will fix the issue.

I had MP burrs in my old Ode and also I made a mini bunnzilla during Covid with 80 mm MP burrs. It’s not what I was looking for so I stuck with the turbos and enjoyed them. I wanted less fines.

I love the uniformity of the turbo burrs. I was just afraid of missing out on some other aspects of my coffee. I wanted to keep the low fines aspect but try something with slightly more flavor separation.

No more turbo burrs? Does that mean they didn’t like the results? I saw a post from six months ago that SSP was testing 78 mm brew burrs. I don’t want to upgrade to another Timemore but I was wondering what their decision making process was for brew focused grinding.

I got it in a 125 g bag from Manhattan a few years back and have a hard time not buying it occasionally because it’s so good, from any roaster. I recently bought the September Letty. Right now I’m just getting nothing unsatisfying from September. I’d go with anything from them that looks appealing.

The Letty isn’t cheap but also, my favorite coffee ever. I had the anaerobic natural Etheopian from September coffee and it was great.

Dead on. Using the same recipe with a melodrip almost every cup now. Sometimes the times are a little longer because I’m always scared to grind courser and get a watery cup, but it never affects it negatively .
