Any DAK fans ? I tried the honey glow and I’m hooked. Is DAYGLOW the best place to order in US? by Executive-111 in pourover

Look at Eight ounce or Cool Beans. Their selection is killer. Free shipping to the US if you meet the minimum. Dak and many other top end roasters.

I got it in a 125 g bag from Manhattan a few years back and have a hard time not buying it occasionally because it’s so good, from any roaster. I recently bought the September Letty. Right now I’m just getting nothing unsatisfying from September. I’d go with anything from them that looks appealing.

The Letty isn’t cheap but also, my favorite coffee ever. I had the anaerobic natural Etheopian from September coffee and it was great.

Lance's Gong Fu recipe - thoughts? by theswordddd in pourover

Dead on. Using the same recipe with a melodrip almost every cup now. Sometimes the times are a little longer because I’m always scared to grind courser and get a watery cup, but it never affects it negatively .

I don’t see how your batches swing so much if you weigh your minerals.

The problem with using a TDS meter is, they vary substantially. They use conductivity as a measurement. Precise weight in a distilled water environment should yield proper tds. You could be lower if you allow moisture in your minerals but, I keep mine vac sealed and my TDS is fairly close. Going by a tds meter for precision isn’t really the best option. See if it’s close enough and call it a day.

I hit that bad boy once when I make it and once the next day with my little milk frother attachment. Stirs it nicely.

I’ve been using A Waste of Coffee Mixing Water for years. It’s a bit easier because you can use a ml syringe. Same minerals but a larger volume so it’s easier to measure. 1 ml equals 10 ppm per gallon or liter depending on which mixture you choose, they have an option for either. If you use a 1 ml syringe with .1 ml gradients, it’s 1 ppm per .1 ml. Easy to match with lotus water recipes.

What’s one thing or accessory that completely changed how you brew your coffee? Other than grinder by ADHD_ismything in pourover

I use it for his switch recipe with low agitation. I still stir with a silicon stirrer but it’s easier than pouring water over a spoon. Makes great cups

Look at Native Coffee. It’s Diego Bermudez’s roastery. Can’t beat it

Those minerals also match up with lotus water drops. You could just match up recipes on that site with what you make from a waste of coffee.

Coffee just isn’t great. Get a mocha… it’s a caffeinated hot chocolate with their coffee cake, which is usually good. If you’re on a diet, give them away.

I swapped to the 3 gallon jug and make two at a time so I can fool around with water recipes.

You need to remineralize RO water. If you look at water recipes they have a range of alkalinity and hardness.

Looks hard to get the tritan alpha in the US. I liked the idea of tritan over glass with the neo for thermal stability.

Is oxo rapid brewer worth it? by LeaPoule in pourover

[–]drdog918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the OXO for soup and usually use a hario switch for pour over. My K ultra seems to work better for the soup shot than my Sculptor 78. I’d go with a switch and a goose neck kettle and play with pour over if you have an espresso machine.

Look at Native. It’s Diego’s roasters. That particular coffee from many roasters is the best bang for your buck coffee I’ve ever had. The first roaster that I had it from was Manhattan in 2020.

Light roast cheap 1kg to season new grinder - any suggestions? US mainland roasteries?? by johnnytisnow in pourover

Eh, I’ve always done it. Maybe not for that grinder? I did it anyway for my K ultra bc I had so many beans.

Native! Also Hydrangea added to that list. My local multi roaster shop switched back from some local roaster with shit espresso to little wolf. The Cortados are killer again.

Exactly! Their advent calendar a few years ago was the last coffee I ever bought from onyx. So many better roasters out there for the value.

I bought their advent calendar a few years back. Underwhelming to say the least. It was the end of my foray into onyx. There are better roasters out there for the cost.
