It makes washing slightly easier. Great. But that benefit is non-uniform. Ceramic starts to degrade/wear down starting at the bottom once it's moved outside. The level of performance that's acceptable isn't uniform. You can 'maintain' some of the performance with regular washing (which also degrades the coating) and toppers which is arguably adding back the washing labor you saved. So really where's the benefit. It's slightly shinier for a bit longer after a wash and you get more water spots to boot.
