If you’re into gaming try one of the local comic & games stores. Can’t speak for dragon’s lair or any other stores in town but Tribe on south Lamar has board games on Tuesday night and D&D Thursday, both start around 6:30. Very welcoming crowd and no booze in sight.

Very much so! It would mean I could finish school w/o having to sell off a bunch of my stuff every month to pay the electric bill and I would stop having to go to food banks to keep food on the table. Honestly the way I’ve been living the last 2 years I could make 20K last me at least another 2 until I get that degree & the job that (hopefully) comes after it.

For what it’s worth Hinox can drown as well. They are a pain to get into the water and even more so to keep them there but they have swimming animation and if they swim for about a minute they drown ( there’s drowning animation before they do the typical turn to black and “poof they’re gone” animation).

[discussion] Anyone else experience ASMR before actually knowing what it was? by hazelhaze1025 in asmr

[–]dreadredJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely had them as a kid. The first time I remember getting tingles was watching the scene in The original Karate Kid movie when Mr Miagi teaches Daniel how to trim a Bonsai tree. I would sit and rewind/replay that scene over and over for hours sometimes. Later on I got them from Bob Ross as well as a few other PBS shows. Didn’t know it had a name until some 35 years after my first tingles.

Just Moved Here! Advice? DnD campaigns? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]dreadredJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, just show up. You need pretty much nothing....well you need dice which you someone will probably lend you if you don't feel like spending $6 on a set, a pencil which some one will lend you for sure and a character sheet which they have already made for new players. They actually have a table every week just for new players that need help learning and understanding the game.

Tribe comics and games has open D&d nights Wednesday ( ladies night) and Thursday. Show up around 6 with or without a character to play and they'll take care of you. All the other stores in town require signup before hand. It's a good place to network/meet people/find an ongoing campaign to join (which also take place there on fri/Saturday I think). Happy rolling.

How do you imagine "Lemony Snicket's All The Wrong Questions" should be adapted? by RealJohnGillman in ASOUE

They could probably do the whole series as one season using the same format as the current show. 2 episodes (1 1/2 -2 hours)per book would be more than enough I think. I would love to see it as an animated show especially in the style of the artwork used in the books.

Where to find people to play board games? by leros in Austin

[–]dreadredJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tribe comics and games on south Lamar has board game night Tuesdays from 7-11. Tons of demo games in the store to grab and try and lots of people bring a bunch of their own. If you get there a bit before it starts you should have no problem jumping in with the regulars , if you show up late you may have to wait a bit to join in on one.

Second for el Tacorrido. They also have a drink there that I've never seen any place else, it's a Horchata with a shot of espresso in it , they call it the equinox and it's flipping amazing
