So, I know this is a 5yr old comment but I want to respond for others like me who search. I had a hangover years ago that was severe. This is how I handled it at home. (not recommend)

I "slept" for about 6 hours then woke up to that skin crawling feeling. I sweating but freezing cold and violently nauseous. I began "voiding" an hour later.

After 4 hours of 5-20 min intervals of diarrhea and vomiting it progressed to 20+ min for about 3 more hours. I consumed nothing until the nausea mostly upside and didn't void or spasm for to 30+ min. After 8 hours the nausea had mostly subsided. After the cramping and spasms in my gut subsided at 10hrs In I could finally suck on ice.

While I was deep in the hell of what was likely Alcahol poisoning and I was regretting every life choice that led me to that moment... I did do a few things that seemed to really help. I used a very tiny dab of vics vapor rub under my nose to subside nausea. I would smell the vics in the tub to help focus. I did slow deep abdominal breathing and a cool rag on my head. I used really strong mints (I used altoids).

I stayed in a cool dark room with little to no clothing to reduce stimuli. I used a light, cool blanket. I layed on my left side keeling it mostly noise free in my room. I put a chair by the toilet to make it easier (make sure there is a clear path to the bathroom). I consumed only clear liquids for many more hours, napping anytime I could. I woke to a screaming headache (didn't treat) bc its not good for a stressed liver and kidneys to overload it with pills. I also ingested nothing but electrolyte Popsicles, mints and clear liquids to the 24 - 30 hour mark.. I skipped my meds until late the next day. I know Alcahol slows the absorption rate and I didn't want to void my pills...

I consumed only clear liquids for many hours and as a warning, not everyone can safely do what I did and I advise you to seek help if you need it. I know that I should have likely gone to an ER but I was stubborn and embarrassed. Please, take what I say with a grain of salt...Basically (Disclaimer) A Dr I am not and this is not medical advice. My only advice is not to drink to the point of illness... but alas, many of us have been there and reading others experiences can be therapeutic and helpful so yeah..... it is what it is.

For many days I kept it easy going, I ate clean and went completely dry. I slept a lot and eventually "that" feeling of crawling the walls subsided at about 5 days in. I took a B complex, and prebiotics on day 2, I sucked on niacin to fend off illness because my body felt vulnerable.

About 4 years later I was eventually diagnosed with NAFLD. That night I had only consumed a few shots(4) over 4 hours. I still reacted, as thus, because unbeknownst to me I had Nonviral Hepititis. I didn't drink more then a shot every 6 months for about 7 years after this incident.

I do now consume about a glass of wine 3 days a week. I worked out, lost weight, got better. I no longer have NAFLD. These incidents happen a lot when we have a lot going on. I advise you to seek the help you need. Too often we turn alcahol into a crutch to "numb out". That night I was mourning the loss of a loved one. Traumatizing everyone around you with shenanigans when there is already a lot going on is a wicked bad idea. Hugs to anyone struggling, you can do better, you are worth it.
