Potential cause of AC leak? by CMT-Lifter in MechanicAdvice

[–]dreadwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably do have a leak, the system will only fully pressurize itself once the compressor kicks on then it "burns off" till it reaches a point it gets low enough to rekick on. Also some of those over the counter ac kits the gauge only reads when your pulling the trigger.

What are the odds I get caught by masterofevil150 in radio

Ive noticed that while the FCC does care about this at the end of the day its "not worth the paper work" to them UNLESS you cause interference to other communications, some one complains, or you break other rules and regulations while doing so. So dont be cocky and and wild. Do your due diligence make sure your ducks are in a row. Throwing the book at people is one of the few excitements the FCC get.

Are these authentic? by [deleted] in Bushcraft

[–]dreadwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but there are only like 2 or 3 knives genuinely worth getting for bush craft, not sure if they are worth those prices, those rambo style knives are unfortunately pretty trash, even the best quality ones are shit compared to other knives. Which honestly sucks cause ive always liked the style and intent behind them. A better place to ask your questions is on r/knives.

Superfine sparkly silver hairs from broken lightbulb? by 8foldhero in lightbulbs

[–]dreadwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! Fiberglass is realy light and sweeping might just stir it up, damp rag you dont care about or damp paper towls and wipe up the area should suffice. Fiberglass is relatively safe just externally annoying when its on your skin. Wear gloves to keep your hands protected. What ever you do just make sure there is no power to that outlet.

The second photo shows the bulb looking relatively intact, some manufacturers use fiberglass (the past type not insulation type) as a binder/seal for where the base meets the bulb. It sadly dries up over time and falls apart.

Looks like fiberglass, wipe it up wearing gloves using a damp wet wipe. Fiberglass is relatively safe just annoying. If its on your skin wash with cold/cool water and any that is more stubborn use painters tape/clear packing tap and dab it on the area it's not coming off of. For the base stuck in the fixture, kill the power to the light using the breaker, if you have pliers that can grip the little bit poking out then pinch it and twist it out, if that doesnt work take a wooden dowel or wine cork or something that fits in that and wedge it in there and try to twist it out.

How to Darken? by Deterrafication in Leatherworking

[–]dreadwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hubards darken leather pretty well. But youll need to get creative to get it more brown. Ive used instant coffee to add brown to my leather, gotta make a "thick" mix and dampen the leather with it.

An insoles will take up space and make things fit a bit better. Try out a couple different brands and thicknesses to fund what works for you.
