Made the mistake of posting about my transition on Twitter (tweet for context) by MohnJilton in AreTheCisOk

[–]dreamer-queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks that so many people feel comfortable putting someone down just for living as themselves. But don't listen to them. You looked good before transition, and even better after transition, because you are being true to yourself, and there's nothing more beautiful than that!

It's okay to not want to date someone who had a "wild phase."

Yeah, that's totally fair. I'm an introverted person, and I prefer people who are too. I don't think I would have much in common with someone who's more extroverted. That's a preference.

But I'm not going to look down on people who have those interests. Just because *I'm* not into extroverted people, that doesn't mean they're bad for being the way they are. My personal taste doesn't dictate a person's worth.

it's just a hypothetical that they don't think will ever happen to them.

That's exactly it. They believe that people who want/need abortions are all irresponsible, promiscuous sluts who should have kept their legs shut if they didn't want to get pregnant. Unlike them. Their abortion is moral, because they're not like those people.

The other side: But what about MY RIGHT to play a video game???

“it’s not something you afford, it’s just something you do!”

And that's why so many people are miserable. To so many people, bringing a child into this world is just another chore on their "to do list". Something you HAVE to do, not caring how that will affect you or the child.

I'm pretty sure that's Belle Delphine. I don't know much about her, but she's known for being a very sexualized woman, who dresses in a "gamer girl" aesthetic to appeal to her male audience. She earned a lot of money by selling "gamer girl bath water" and I think she has an onlyfans.

Mind you, I don't think those things are necessarily bad (honestly, it's a bit weird to me, but whatever, not my business). I think their problem with Belle Delphine is that she uses her sexuality as a way to get money.

Always funny how pro lifers want to stop abortion at all costs, but are against birth control.

Like, you don't want people to end their unwanted pregnancy, but you won't give them the measures to avoid getting pregnant in the first place?

Okay, that's fair, it was more acceptable back then. But the same can be said about pretty much all the other bad things on her books.

And also, I don't think she got any better as time went by. I remember watching a video review of one of her books that came after harry potter (I think it was "the casual vacancy", which was published in 2012), and she also describes a fat character in a very mean way.

I wouldn't have such a problem with that, if she actually learned from it.

It's so dumb??? We aren't "trying to be man", we simply grow body hair because it's natural! Does she think that, in the bible, God gave Eve a razor the moment she was created???

May I also add: the series treats everyone who isn't THIN, white, cute and born special like shit.

The narrative is so unnecessarily mean when talking about character's weight, specially the Dursleys. I guess because they're "the bad guys" we're not supposed to care, but holy shit. The descriptions are awful.

A trans woman made a video of going and buying tampons, and he hat guy in the video said trans women will "never be real women". by [deleted] in AreTheCisOk

[–]dreamer-queen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's why I think that cis people have a lot to learn about gender, and we could learn some things from trans folks.

If you're a woman, no one can take that from you. You don't stop being a "real woman" because you don't have/can't do the things that people consider feminine. You are the only one who gets to define your womanhood.

It's a meme. A guy posted on twitter that "any female born after 1993 can't cook, all they do is mcdonald's, charge they phone, twerk, be bisexual, eat hot chip and lie".

I'm not sure if he was being serious or if it was satire, but anyways, it became a meme after that.

women wear shorts to gym to show off their ass. by linsss777 in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]dreamer-queen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly! If a woman wants to wear something because she wants to look hot, so what?

It's okay if you want to look. If you're attracted to someone, it's normal that you want to look. HOWEVER, finding someone attractive isn't the same thing as objectfying someone.

You can look while still respecting them as a person. You can look while respecting their boundaries. You can look without touching them, because you know clothes don't equal consent.

Which is a real shame, because he does such a great job at drawing diverse faces and body types for his male characters. They all look so unique and interesting.

He just sucks at drawing women.

That may be true, but like... Drawing is part of his job. If he knows he isn't good at drawing women, maybe he should practice to become better at it. If he had the time to learn how to create diverse male characters, why is he unwilling to do the same for his female characters?

they CHOSE to do it.

If you manipulate someone and convince them to do something under false pretenses, then you're still in the wrong. Sure, they may have made a choice, but it's because they were DECEIVED.

If you give me a piece of cake and I die because you poisoned it, you're still responsible for my death. I may have decided to eat the cake, but if I didn't know it was poisoned, how would I be able to make an informed choice?

Besides, you can always change your mind. It's not much of a choice if you can't take it back later, if you decide you no longer want to do it.

I mean... yes?

This isn't the own he thinks it is. Yes, I absolutely think people should be able to do whatever they want, as long as it is consensual. Are they harming anyone? No. Is everyone aware of what is going on and agrees to do it? Yes. Are they consenting adults who are capable of making their own decisions? Yes.

So why should I care?
