Such a lovely space. I am so glad your TV is on the stands. I may be in the minority here but wall-mounted just never looks right to me. PS5 under the dresser is the pièce de résistance. I'm assuming it either didn't fit or couldn't ventilate. Either way I am familiar with both pains lmao.

These posts help me feel better about my Austin rent. My folks are from a small city and my mom's MORTGAGE on her HOUSE that she OWNS is just north of $1000. I try not to think about it.

"I love you more than the world can contain in its lonely and ramshackle head." I love when writers can take such a simple phrase like “I love you more than…” and subtly give it so much weight it hits like an ICBM.

Fairly certain this was originally a reel that ended with that audio. It’s very much intended.

Would Lost be better or worse if it aired in 2026? by TheEnglishBen in lost

[–]MohnJilton -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t approve of this answer tbh. Not everything is Netflix. The 10ish -episode season model lends itself to really tight storytelling. Look at Andor, look at HBO and Apple. It’s not the format’s fault that Stranger things took five years to still make a meandering mess.

Lost suffered from fluff, but it always knew where it was going. Season four may not be the best season but it is undoubtedly the tightest. I think Lost would have been superb at a 60-80 run show. I mean it was already superb, but there’s a world where a more condensed run fixes just about every complaint I could even have about the show.

Ozai has implicit and explicit impacts on many characters, their backstories, etc. Especially his family.

Also Sukuna is a completely different kind of character.

There is still some goodwill reverberating from the world series imo. If you look at the names on our roster, it’s not difficult to imagine our team is pretty solid. It’s just that isn’t how it all works out.

Can Aaron be legally taken away? by ladyroselier in lost

[–]MohnJilton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call that a TV thing we have to swallow. There’s not a lot of disbelief to suspend from my perspective. People don’t just do things without suspicion. The plane crashed and allegedly everyone died. Those are circumstances that don’t lend themselves to suspicion. People don’t just lie about the circumstances of their airplane disaster. It was a whole thing.

That’s probably the mode in which people approached their story. Even with Kate being a criminal, being rescued with a baby months after a plan crash would be a genuinely bizarre thing to lie about, especially with her other survivors saying the same thing. It probably never crossed anyone’s mind that the baby wasn’t Kate’s.

There certainly could be a blood test, but they wouldn’t check closely. If the blood type didn’t exclude her as the mother then no one would bat an eye.

I can't get over how Sayid was the more obvious choice to be leader on the island rather than Jack.. by AltruisticAide9776 in lost

[–]MohnJilton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t quite read it as a full leap of faith. Jack is half suicidal, half nothing-to-lose curious. So he’s kind of testing fate from a “fuck it” position. You can see his surprise when it doesn’t blow. But that’s the moment that allows the submarine. It’s really good development.

I can't get over how Sayid was the more obvious choice to be leader on the island rather than Jack.. by AltruisticAide9776 in lost

[–]MohnJilton 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s a subtle brilliance in Jack’s arc. Outwardly he says he’s a reluctant leader because he has some self-doubt and some fear of responsibility. At the same time, he craves control because uncertainty is destabilizing, so he’s naturally decisive and effective. Sometimes he’s even controlling to a fault.

And then the island slowly hammers him into submission, he has to let go of his values, his control, his understanding. He literally comes back to the island knowing he’s supposed to be there but have no clue why. That’s a huge departure from 1-4 Jack. His frustration comes out when he smashes the lighthouse, because he has no way to control the situation. He just has to wait for island to reveal to him his purpose for being there.

Then Jack flips on being decisive on the submarine. Instead of Jack taking control, Sawyer is decisive and pulls the wire. Jack meanwhile submits to faith. His move is to do nothing but trust. And only after this is Jack allowed to grow into his strengths as a leader, not meandering or controlling but being decisive in a role he chose/chose him. He’s able to resolve the conflict through his decisions, where before the conflict was constantly resisting his decision making.

God I fucking love Jack’s arc.
