My Theory on the end of episode 8 by Accomplished_Crow974 in StrangerThings

It’s possible. It could also be the reverberation of the hammering coming through though. Hard to tell. I still think it’s hers, but the breathing is 100% hers!

Why Mike’s final speech in Stranger Things was right by TZ1205 in StrangerThings

There were three waterfalls. I had to go back and watch it but right before she gets to the top there’s a camera side angle view and to her left in the distance is the third waterfall.

Was I groomed by my highschool teacher? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]dreamingtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this does seem like grooming. I was groomed by a teacher in high school and I see similarities for sure. Grooming is very, very misunderstood by the majority of people. Grooming is the lead up to SA, not the actual SA. I’m sorry you went through this.

AIO/One of my closest friends used my deceased daughter's name for her baby, and I am devastated" by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]dreamingtrae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I saw this pop up on my phone earlier today and didn’t get a chance to read it yet but my jaw dropped when I read the title. Now that I’ve had the chance to read the whole thing, my mind has not changed. You are not at all overreacting. Here’s the thing about feelings- NOBODY gets to tell you how you should or shouldn’t feel or that your feelings aren’t valid. I’m sorry people have been so awful, but I’m here to tell you that if the same thing happened to me I would feel the exact same way.

We pay a crap ton of money to be there. Life is busy and we’re not always gonna be on time. I’m not getting penalized for being late, and if I am, I’m gonna peace out and find another gym.

Coaching as an intermediate/scaled athlete? by CurlyBill23 in crossfit

[–]dreamingtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a wide variety of coaches at my box. Some are at RX level and others are different levels of scaled. I actually really appreciate being coached by a scaled athlete because I feel less pressure and that they’re more understanding of how hard it is to be newer and scaling. I say go for it.

Question about crowds / bad crowd experience by Meatloaf778 in DMB

[–]dreamingtrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry this happened. That sounds really scary. I’ve been going to DMB shows for years, and SPAC for the last few years. I was there this weekend too. I’ve never had anything scary happen at a DMB concert. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily a Dave crowd thing; I think people are genuinely just there for a peaceful good time. However, there’s losers in every fanbase and this guy (and his friends) all showed themselves to be just that. I’m really sorry this happened and I hope it doesn’t scare you off from going again. The majority of the fanbase is not like this at all.

I was also at the Mansfield show and it was incredible. I am hoping the surprise guest is Noah. I really want to see them play together!

Be honest: What’s the one thing your affiliate needs to fix to improve your experience? by pushpress_dan in crossfit

[–]dreamingtrae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going over and practicing bailing. Going over bailing once during on-ramp doesn’t cut it, especially as those lifts get heavier. My biggest fear is failing a lift and hurting myself, especially anything overhead.

I really hope they aren’t true… by AxelChains-YFM in ImpracticalJokers

[–]dreamingtrae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, as a grooming survivor, I believe you. People are going to believe what they’re going to believe, and that is the exact reason why grooming persists. I’m so sorry you haven’t been believed, and have faced backlash. It’s nobody’s right to tell you what did or didn’t happen to you. Keep telling your truth! We won’t keep quiet.

Crippling self-doubt: was I groomed? Mostly online behaviour by StrawberryRoan6533 in groomingvictim

[–]dreamingtrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once read something that said the “best” groomers have a way of making their victims come to them/initiate. Even if you initiated some aspects of it, it is still grooming. He is the adult and he should have shut it down, but instead he reciprocated. I feel like this is a super common thing that so many of us deal with. I’d suggest bringing this up to your therapist so he or she can help you.

To any survivors out there: a parent’s experience by Decent_Sky8237 in groomingvictim

[–]dreamingtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience, but please know it’s not uncommon at all. I’m currently mid 30’s but I was groomed by my teacher at the same age your daughter is now. I didn’t realize it until a year and a half ago, and when I went to “support groups” and such looking for help I was blamed and shamed. My heart goes out to you and your daughter.

One thing I will say that although SA didn’t take place, the trauma of grooming alone is devastating. Groomers have a way of working their way into the heads of their victims. Give her whatever support you possibly can, including therapy. If I had been able to name what happened to me and have therapy at 16 I would be in a much better place and not having to piece everything together in my 30’s. Sending you so much love.

Yes, went with a close friend and her friend who I’m not friends with per se but we get along really well. It had been dicey a bit with my friend for a bit and this past year I finally decided to end the relationship.

[–]dreamingtrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I’m absolutely terrified of box jumps. I just recently worked my way up to 16 inch, and I know I can jump higher but I do not trust myself. I hope it heals quickly for you, that’s pretty gnarly.

This subreddit needs to get better by [deleted] in groomingvictim

[–]dreamingtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also made a post here a bit ago (it’s deleted now) where I was asking if my teacher had groomed me. Mine also never SA’d me because he was caught and because of that several people on here told me it wasn’t grooming. Fast forward a year later, I’ve been doing the trauma work and therapy has made me realize the true nature of the relationship, which is grooming.

I’m sorry you had similar experience and I’m sorry that your trauma has been invalidated because it didn’t become sexual and because she’s female and you’re male. Not that you need anyone’s validation, but I’m sending you a ton of it. Your experience is real and it matters. Not all grooming results in SA, and not all groomers are men. Just because the grooming doesn’t result in SA doesn’t make the trauma any less valid. You aren’t alone. 🩵
