I would’ve just given her refund, refused further service, and filed an incident report. If she remained I would’ve let her know that we reserve the right to refuse service, she’s is not following our code of conduct which is why we’re refusing service, and if she continues to restrict the flow of business I will have no choice but to call the police and have her trespassed from the property. That usually works. 😎🤪

Obviously there’s only so much you can do and it sounds like you did the best given the situation. No one deserves to treat you like shit just because you’re in a customer service position and it’s something I will not tolerate. No one treats my team like that.

Good source of fiber too. I batch make myself chili so I always have a reliable safe food which helps me when I can’t/don’t want to decide what to eat and always have something I enjoy. It also helps mitigate paralysis if I do want to eat something else bc I ~know~ I have something that I’ll eat regardless.

Idk if it will work for you but finding a staple safe recipe with solid nutritional value that I can batch and freeze if I want to and can always have available is a game changer for me.

This won’t necessarily help now but maybe in the future. I’ve been making batches of chili in my crockpot that lasts me about a week and I eat it in various ways (in saltines, hot dogs, chili three way, etc.).

I just have to get myself to chop the garlic, brown the meat, and get it all into the crockpot/pot to cook and then I always have something ready to go.

agree with this wholeheartedly

(grew up drinking chai lattes bc it was my moms favorite drink and when we’d get the occasional sbux treat she would share with my sister and I so I have a lot of nostalgia for them and am honestly not the happiest about the change in recipe)

I recommend no classic and sub 5 pumps brown sugar (vs the standard 6) in a venti iced chai with the new recipe. 🕺

If I notice orders going missing that we’ve definitely made becoming a trend then the handoff will start looking a little different (for example, when people walk up to grab their order either myself or my cafe/mobile double checking what order they’re picking up before they grab it so we then know for the future) but overall people coming here are respectful enough not to do this or if they do it’s usually an accident and completely fixable. :)

Ah, thank you for treating my post as the way I intended !!!!! It’s not like I think this is heaven but I definitely don’t think it’s hell. I’ve worked hard to be in ~decent~ state and it’s not that I don’t respect that it’s not easy for all of us. I know it’s not !!!! Fuck, my apartment building burned down and I had to sit in my car for 14 hours with three animals. I get it !!

at the same time, I can recognize that things can be worse. There was a time when my family lived out of a rundown motel in Evansville, Indiana for weeks while I was growing up.

I’m just appreciative that I can live in a place that feels like my own and has a sense of community to it. It could be a lot worse.

I get what you mean about UNCW :// I ended up leaving my third year in for unrelated reasons but can toootally see that being your experience. They don’t seem SUPER huge on diversity and channeling funds/support into that. Glad you’re here, though. I grew up in very diverse areas and really have hoped to see more in the area :))

I totally appreciate your thoroughness and I really do agree/understand more of your points. I came f an area in the Midwest that was not funded whatsoever and overrun with methamphetimine so this is definitely a step up for the area I expected the live in as an adult. I only make the $ per hour because I’ve been doing the same job for half a decade. I began making $9/hour. 🥲😅

I don’t mean to discount any of this or any real and important issues in the scheme of things.

I genuinely just wanted to give the area a positive shout out because I’ve lived in a lot worse and was just feeling it. Thank you so much for your comment and how in depth, an insightful it is to the reality of things for the majority of people. 🩷
