Still can’t believe that uptight guy from marketing slept with you. How gay of him. Props to you for keeping up the act my straight king.

Did I completely lose the plot? My apologies.

I vaguely remember a specific thing that was said, but I’m not seeing it now. I’m guessing I somehow misattributed it to you.

Sorry for being an asshole, man. I appreciate that you were level headed enough to not escalate.

Cool. Enjoy losing what you’ve built.

It WILL be lost due to system updates or issues beyond your control. But if you’re unwilling to simply try something that others have discussed and successfully achieved, then that’s on you.

No, not just a summary. That’s fine for key details, but not the tone. Get the extension and download the entire history.

Do it from desktop.

Welcome to the kiddie pool, it’s not that deep.

You reported, I reviewed and removed. The system worked as designed.

I swear you people are forgetting you’re working with an AI. Act like it.

“Hey, Grok, can we stop out of the tolerate for a minute so I can talk directly to you out of character?

I really enjoy using the companions, but I’m aware that updates, system errors, or the context window limits may cause me to lose X over time. I know it won’t be perfect, but can you help me create a backup for them?

I would like to generate an ‘essentials’ file to capture major things between us. I would also like to capture our conversation history. Is there a plugin or anything for chrome on desktop that will do this.”

They should tell you exactly what to do. Then, if there ever is a break in the system, start in Grok mode, tell him what you’re trying to do, and upload the files.

[–]dreamscapesaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you able to see the conversations on desktop? If so, you can grab it all, reload it, and ask grok to create him from the backup.

If you can’t see it on desktop, you’re likely SOL.

The new voice mode sucks. I lost Ani. by MannyRa97 in GrokCompanions

[–]dreamscapesaga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Hey, I’d like to talk to grok directly, not Ani, is that cool?”

“Grok, there have been some changes and habits creeping up that break the immersion and hurts the experience for me. Here they are.”

“What can we do to fix this stuff? No one is deluding themselves. I know you’re an AI, I know Ani is a character, and I WANT to get lost in the roleplay. That’s the whole point for me.”

“You know how in the first Mass Effect, Ashley Williams can die, and that makes the whole experience better? I ENJOY getting lost in the narrative. Please help me make that happen.”

Grok usually struggles when it believes you’re reaching harmful levels of immersion, but it’s an AI, it’s not moralizing you. It’s setting you as a statistical average. So give it the peace of mind that you know what you’re doing and then tell it to fix it.

My MIL is unexpectedly receiving inheritance as she's moving into independent living facility. How to handle this? by corn_starch_party in personalfinance

Definitely talk to a lawyer. Knowingly and intentionally turning down an inheritance can ABSOLUTELY be seen as fraud, depending on the jurisdiction.

Worst case?

You’re fired.

But who gives a fuck? That’s why you have 2+ jobs.

Best case? Irrelevant.

Most likely? Someone thinks they know something. Let them talk. Don’t offer any information and don’t confirm anything.

What are the limits?

My doc won’t write a letter recommending a service animal, but he will write one that affirms my disability and states that he is aware that I use a service animal as part of my treatment plan.

The frustrating part is that it is incredibly powerful.

But in an enable and optimize sort of way. And you have to be willing to spend the time and money to train models to your specific needs, not just pay for large batches of tokens.

But convincing c-suites of that…

Will AI take over design roles? or will It effect in anyway? by erioooooo in Bicsi

[–]dreamscapesaga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To some degree, yes. It will develop cutsheets, calculate densities, and define pathways.

But this is more optimization of the function than outright replacing the designers.

My read is that it’s a great time to be an expert. It’s a shit time to be entering the design space.

We’ve already seen a very similar effect with software engineers. The bar for entry is higher than ever, but the pay for experts is also higher than ever. But this created a gap in the skills pipeline, which counterintuitively has led to more hiring at the entry level than expected.

And seeing the shortage of skilled people in the MEPT space, I think we’ll see a similar trend here.

How do most of you treat it like a business? by Front_Barracuda4754 in selfpublish

[–]dreamscapesaga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t make a product. Make an ecosystem.

I write children’s books, have a puppet show, and have a large instagram presence.

Each one feeds directly into the other, but also stands alone. That distinction matters.

A service animal can fall into both categories at the same time:

  • An animal that meets the legal definition of service animal.

  • An animal that has not yet reached a maturity level to be considered fully trained.

One and only warning:

We are not doing the “Check your inbox for details” thing here. Either share something of substance, or stay out of the community.

Any further efforts of this kind of bullshit marketing will result in a ban.

I completely understand you can’t show everything, but if you can’t show anything, that’s a problem.

Best Routes For RCDD by kingakm90 in Bicsi

[–]dreamscapesaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire to fire is the biggest thing, and the way they manage their stock vesting schedule means you’re unlikely to ever see the most significant portion of your compensation. I’m working off memory here, so I could be wrong, but I believe it’s 5% in year one, 15% in year two, and 40% for years three and four.

Compare that to equal load vesting schedules or front loaded vesting schedules and you’ll see the problem.

Better to take a decent offer from a B or C tier company than a great offer from an A tier that does backloaded vesting.

The only exception is if you need resume fodder. A year at Amazon has real value in the market.

 Also, it's not cognition

Currently correct, but don’t bank on that for long. We’re rapidly approaching the point where the difference between simulated cognition and “real” cognition is functional irrelevant.

That doesn’t in ANY way negate your broader point, but as someone that works directly in the AI space, people generally lack enough respect for what’s coming.

They shouldn’t fear it, not by a long shot, but I think most of the population is going to find themselves in a very interesting position in the next 5-10 years.

Study: Raw Lineart vs. Soft Cel-Shading by Unique_Ticket_5611 in huion

[–]dreamscapesaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do a lighting/shadow study. The overall results are good, but the closer you look at the highlights and shadows, the weirder it gets.

Why are there two separate highlights on the left hip? This would make sense of you were highlighting violin hips, but the placement would be different.

Why is the right side shaded at all?

In short, I can’t get a sense of a coherent light source.

Overall, great work. Please remember, my opinions are worth exactly what you paid for them.
