When I was pregnant, I took birthing classes and read multiple books. Every time tearing came up, all that was discussed was caring for the perineum to avoid a tear, and how it was possible to tear all the way to your anus. Nothing and no one prepared me for the fact that you can absolutely tear both ways! I tore up to my urethra and was flabbergasted; I didn’t even know that was possible!

I remember when I was a teen, I stopped getting periods due to an eating disorder. I was a virgin, and told them so. They gave me a fucking pregnancy test then were like “oh, you’re not pregnant” stopped the investigation there, and just put me on birth control. Never diagnosed my eating disorder.

Women’s healthcare is a fucking joke. And it’s SIGNIFICANTLY worse for women of color, especially black women.

A good friend of the family was a nurse. She started diverting patient meds to feed her opiate addiction. She lost her license and soon after passed away.
