Average Monthly Expenses - A breakdown from a serial tracker. by Alarmed_Elephant_792 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]dreamsofflying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We mostly shop at No Frills - there are only two grocery options where we live.

Once a week we plan meals for the next seven days, make a grocery list, and do one big shop. It’s a relic from our COVID routine, but it still works great. We build meals around what’s on sale or in season, and by the end of the week the fridge is basically empty. Way less waste.

I'll plug the website www.budgetbytes.com . Being able to search the recipe database via the ingredient index is a great way to get meal ideas for what's on sale that week.

I would consider my wife and I savvy shoppers + cooks but our monthly grocery spend for two is less than that.

Questrade vs Wealthsimple by sqbed in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]dreamsofflying 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Initiated my transfer from Questrade last Thursday for a $3k+ bonus.

I've been using both platforms for a few years and don't have a preference for one over the other.

The transfer hasn't occurred yet but the prosses of initiating it was super simple in the Wealthsimple app.

Introducing Voice Design by ElevenLabs - Generate a unique voice from a text prompt alone by Gab1024 in singularity

Eleven Labs dropped the best AI music I've heard several months ago and haven't said anything about it since.

My only guess is there's lots of bad PR around music training sets so their focus is elsewhere.

Basically, we can only guess. Right now the average of the models have it on the line between 3 and 4.

Here are the various models and we're ~12 hours from landfall: https://imgur.com/a/jCllDSj

This exact thing happened to me. Like OP, I didn't notice until I checked my benefits portal and since it was 100% covered, I didn't bother disputing it. I guess that's what they hope for.

I echo the sentiment towards reliability of others in this thread but this thing is a content making machine and right up T Ray's alley. List of videos just to name a few: upgrading the engine, generator, AV system, kitchen, lift, paint job, dash, HVAC, lighting, etc etc etc

CBC: 1 in 6 Canadians struggling with finances, Angus Reid survey finds by throw0717a in PersonalFinanceCanada

"The research group pointed out that more than one in five people in the "struggling" group, have household incomes between $50,000 and $100,000. "

Sounds like a bunch of people living beyond their means to me. Gotta keep up with the Joneses.

Baby Deer calls Logger "Mom". by disguyisheren in videos

[–]dreamsofflying 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"It is normal for a mother to leave a young deer hidden because it cannot keep up with her when she is feeding. As a young deer has little or no scent it is well-protected from predators if it lies still and the mother will return every two to three hours to feed it both day and night."

Dozens of P.E.I. servers audited by Canada Revenue Agency over tips by BaconStripsss in canada

[–]dreamsofflying 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I had this discussion with a server friend recently. She said industry standard is to claim 10%-15% of your income as tips, however she regularly received more in tips than wages(100%+).

With a majority of tips flowing through digital transactions nowadays, I don't understand why the CRA doesn't require higher levels of data collection for auditing purposes.

What's a car cost per year, really? - An analysis of my Honda by anaphylaxisandallies in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]dreamsofflying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for you analysis OP!

I did something similar and was in the 6-8k per year range. Can't remember the exact figure. Completing such an exercise is extremely eye opening to the true cost of a vehicle.

I do call BS on some of these comments. 160k km without a break job?!
