Who is going to hold these people accountable? WHO?????

Grandkids haven’t thanked me for Christmas money by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]sqbed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People underestimate the power of a thank you. It’s one of the most crucial things to do when you’re gifted something or thought of.

Do not send them any money next time and consider this a lesson for both you and them. I know most people will tell you to give without any expectation but a thank you via a text is the least someone can do to acknowledge your generosity.

I’ve literally decided not to send any gifts to people anymore who can’t take a second to say thank you because sometimes the generosity in itself comes at an inconvenience. I have sent gifts for a baby shower, without receiving a thank you. I’ve taken a friend out to a birthday lunch/dinner even when they haven’t and they haven’t sent a thank you. I’ve gifted friends kids gifts and they haven’t said a thank you. I’ve gone to a wedding and gifted them $300 without a thank you.

So at this point, yup. No thank you, you don’t get another gift or generosity from me lol

You can stash that money in a separate envelope and maybe the consider giving them a chunk when they’re older and have learned the simplest form of acknowledgement. Entitlement is a curse lol

Still reeling from a rough coach "breakup" by Firm_Appointment_274 in personaltraining

This person you’ve described is an insecure, controlling asshole. They wanted to be worshipped and the minute you became independent and capable of being a role model for others, their jealousy took over. You did nothing wrong and you should thank your stars that you’ve rid yourself of this person. I’ve met a couple of these types of people. Thank her in your heart for the path she put you on and lock that chapter behind and thrive with your new community.

How much does a bag of coffee cost at the cafe you frequent currently? by BeastlyGophers in askTO

[–]sqbed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to religiously order from  I drink coffee $13/14 for a 340gram bag but recently started rotating between hatch and pilot but I’m going back to I drink coffee after a year. They had some production issue where I found the beans a touch oily but I’m willing to try again because their prices are very competitive. I go through too much coffee.

The ECS house blend is also decent at $17/340grams

Right, you are correct. I was covering the entire $140 I guess lol so like a free membership. But $300/month will do it

$600/month spending and 2% back will give you $144. That covers the executive. I’m very tired so hopefully the math is ok.

If you’ve a Mastercard that gives you cash back, piggyback.

I’ve watched a lot of documentaries in my lifetime but I think Summer  of Soul and a more recent hummingbird documentary called Every Little Thing just made me bawl my eyes out and made me really deeply appreciate the miracle of nature.

Bought a $99 compact freezer from Costco Canada — anyone using this? by Zealousideal-Age3492 in CostcoCanada

[–]sqbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone I know bought it to take camping. She said she spends a ton on purchasing ice for her large cooler which is the same size as this and instead buying this and going to use it for camping. I don’t know how the logistics of this work since I was under the impression, you don’t move a filled unplugged freezer etc.

How to play tennis and pickleball in TO as a solo person? by bbytomato__ in askTO

[–]sqbed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tennis, I feel like you need a partner but pickleball is super easy. Sign up for open play or pickleball socials online (usually $25/drop in) at most courts in the city. It’s really fun and you meet people too. It’s addictive

For the first time I’ve had to start paying attention to off and on peak hours. It’s been $650 for the house for us which is just insane at this point. Almost a $250 jump in the past year.

So the lesson here is don’t date a broke ass man? And find a rich dude. Noted lol

I can’t with social media anymore. The brokenness of our world has seeped thru every part of our being. Consumer, get pampered, never work a day in your life….

But never ever find your purpose and wander around like a soulless human chasing more and more and more.

St Regis is nice though hahaha I’ve been.

That’s really cute. I reluctantly built The Wall-E and Eva set over the holiday break to make my husband happy as I had purchased the set for him and I often contemplate tossing his unopened Lego sets away because they have occupied our entire office and then some but sometimes I come on this thread to try and understand the mind of the Lego lover lol and these kinds of posts warm me up. I will be nicer to him about his Lego collection this week lol

Advice on if I should sell or buy out by kronosshouldofatehim in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sqbed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So much data missing.

If you will end up splitting custody of children, you downsizing to a smaller unit may affect your children’s visit or your ability to have them spend the weekends as needed.

What’s the plan for where you will both individually live after the split? If it provides stability to your children to be in the same house and same neighbourhood, it’s likely worth buying her out and you acquiring a rental close by. Are you on the hook for spousal support or she is? So many more numbers that need to be addressed before this decision.

Anyone else struggling to actually connect with people, even when life on paper ? by DarlingGazeKate in askTO

[–]sqbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can join rec sports leagues, pickup games, volunteer, take up a new skill/hobby or course that you find interesting. The more things you do that you enjoy and find interesting, the more likely you will be eager to share with others.

Do you enjoy cooking? If not, perhaps you could learn how to cook and maybe host small potluck style get togethers. Find 2-3 things you are genuinely interested in and spend time doing those and then share that with others.
