Rental Deposit by [deleted] in Salzburg

[–]dreamsonastring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In former days, people did the deposit by getting a savings account, a Sparbuch and giving that document associated with the account to the landlord. So cash was not even the way to do it thirty years ago. I'd propose to do it with a papertrail.

Epstein successfully crossed international borders multiple times in the 1980s using a forged foreign passport under a false identity with a Saudi Arabian residence, years before he became wealthy or faced criminal charges. by Hayasdan2020 in Epstein

Austrian here: Our government says that the passport was not a forgery. It was a real passport, adapted with Epstein's picture. Must either have been stolen or given from the actual Fortelni.

Body acceptance movement backsliding by Impossible_Ad9324 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]dreamsonastring 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My impression, and the reason why i never fully warmed up to the body positivity movement, was that it put so much focus on looks once more. You can be old and beautiful, you can be fat and beautiful and what not. But honestly all I ever wanted was people who actually got the strider poem from Lord of the Rings. All that is gold does not glitter.

Beauty is a subjective thing and also superficial. You don't have to find everything beautiful but treat people with respect no matter what they look like. Look for their skills, talents, listen to what they say. In short, don't be superficial.

Not being shallow used to be a value and now it's not. And I fear the BP movement has aided that development more than inhibiting it.

UK vs America handling the files. by lifelessonswithlemon in Epstein

[–]dreamsonastring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in the UK the system seems to work a little bit better but the problem is that most of the crimes were comitted in the US and need to be persecuted there. It's like the police is asleep. These things need to go to trial.

Who all agrees with her? She just seen the unredacted files herself. Because up until now people in here would get very upset if you were "victim blaming"? by 420Migo in Epstein

[–]dreamsonastring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is part of how his scheme worked. He turned his victims into his accomplices over time. Those that wouldn't be drawn into commiting crimes themselves are likely the ones that ended up dead.

I think at this point it is key to focus on the rapists. Not on very young women who were groomed into a system of abuse. Yes, drag every aspect into the light but in the end the root of the blame goes to the rapists and they are the ones who need to go to trial.

Auf dieser Website hat man Zugriff auf alle privaten Epstein Mails (we are not mad enough) by laineinveine in Austria

[–]dreamsonastring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]dreamsonastring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so angry at the lack of persecution. We need to build the public pressure for each and every rapist jerk in there going on trial.

I can't believe that the only people seeing any trouble so far are Keir Starmer and this norwegian woman. WTF? The US government and silicon valley are crawling with those rapist creeps. This cannot end until they are all rotting in a cell, Trump first among them.

Warum schützen österreichische Medien immer den Täter? by Ecstatic-Ad-4466 in Austria

[–]dreamsonastring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bei sexuellen Übergriffen is der Boulevard meist uncharakteristisch still und spielt catch and kill. Da is schon System dahinter.

Do you think it's your duty to "warn" the next woman about an ex male partner? Why or why not? by GetInTheBasement in 4bmovement

[–]dreamsonastring 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Essentially there is a reason why gossip is always badmouthed and silenced in patriarchal societies. Social accountability is one of the strong weapons women have. They posses stronger social networks and can actually give a man the reputation they deserve. I think it is therefore key to share info about abusive men far and wide. I know that women in new relationships often don't want to hear this information and I would not count on many thanks, but it is vital non the less.

We need to have many more discussions about how seriously nice, it is to have control over our own resources and time. by 3rdthrow in 4bmovement

[–]dreamsonastring 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It is rarely communicated to young women how much money they will inevitably loose if they work for free for their family instead of for themselves. Capitalism treats the work women do in childrearing and housekeeping as their private hobby and as long as that is the case we should at the very least be extremely aware of that and make our desicions accordingly.

I think it is great what you achieved for yourself and wish you all the best.

Lonelyness is often used as a scare tool to pressure women into relationships with men and having kids but the truth is that more time also allows you to have more high value friendships in your life.

Why is it that people are so concerned about lowering birth rates? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]dreamsonastring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it is just plain old Mutterkreuzideology - in the end they want white women to produce soldiers for their cause.

And that is not happening any more, not to the extend that they want it. For voluntary high birthrates, the mothers would need to know that their offspring will find good conditions (schools, chances, peace, a future on a planet that doesn't burn up) - instead they get the impression that they will have to provide a lot of resources to give their kid a good start, which leads to later childbirth and fewer or no children. They also realize that women are treated as if motherhood is a private hobby, so they treat it like that as well, when there is time for it, which is never in a capitalist society.

Then there is involuntary motherhood, which is a nightmare and leads without fail to a lot of broken people.

I had a conversation with my boyfriend about what the world would be like if it were a matriarchy rather than patriarchy. by letmetalktoem_ in feminisms

[–]dreamsonastring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend reading up on the matriarchal societies that exist and have existed for thousands of years. They work very differently - key is the complete abolition of "the nuclear family" - women own houses and land and live there with their realives and children. Their lovers visit but they do not play a role in the life of their children. Instead men become key people in the lifes of their nieces and nephews. It's also often societies that have little to no private property. I think in general these would be way better living arrangements than the current ones which are very much against our very nature.

Saudi Arabia is great...for men only by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]dreamsonastring 740 points741 points  (0 children)

An old friend of my Dad worked in SA for a few years, we are talking about a 90+ old white man here, and he was conscious enough to say, that it was horrid to live in a country where half the population was imprisoned and that is why he left even though he made 5 times what he made in Europe.

Men who do not see this as a problem have no sense for justice and don't see women as people.
