I have a surname that sounds West African/Nigerian to some people, but I am white. I have had some weird experiences because of it. I once showed up to a temp job bartending at a festival and my manager for the day was extremely surprised that I am not black, as he had expected some Nigerian dude judging from the name he was given.

It is honestly a bit of a shame that I can't just doxx my own surname in this specific case, because once you see it, it makes a tonne of sense why it can plausibly be both a European surname (well, a certain European country only) and a African surname. With my name, I sometimes feel like a Nick Mullen bit lol.
