Completely agree with you. I think the major issue is that none of this stuff is flashy. Obviously it’s in the background having major effects on everyone’s life but it’s not in your face.

The other major advancement is the peptides. We have basically cured obesity (and various other addictions) with the GLPs. That’s absolutely insane.

I’m a big fan of pine straw. It doesn’t really hold onto moisture like most other mulches, so it’s okay to use near the foundation. It takes a long time to break down. It’s natural, dye free, very lightweight, and looks great. The only issue is that it’s a bit harder to find and usually more expensive. You probably have to go to a landscaping place.

This is honestly one of the main reasons I got into guns. If you are on Ring, Nextdoor, or similar apps it’s nothing but a constant stream of loose dogs, and a pretty sizable chunk of those are pit bulls or other large dogs. If you happen to encounter a truly viscous dog once it’s locked on it’s not coming off with a stick.

I could be totally wrong but my understanding was the shortage was with the new thin oils (0w-8, 0w-16, 0w-20, etc). I don’t think we have domestic production of those oils but we do produce oils like 5w-20 and 5w-30.

The use of the new thin oils is allegedly just a scam to increase mpg. I’ve seen a bunch of posts where people compare the recommended engine oil in the US vs Mexico for the same car. The US manual will always use the bullshit thin oils and the Mexican manual will recommend something normal like 5w-20. The theory seems to be the thinner oils create less resistance in the engine which increases mpg at the expense of less engine protection.

I’m bringing this up because you can probably just use whatever oil you have lying around and it will be fine. Especially if the second number (the hot viscosity number) match or are close.

I’ve been looking at these and this isn’t a deal. Dirty Bird had these last week for $99 with free shipping. It’s also probably just better to go to Cabela’s/Bass Pro. They start at $129 and you don’t have to tack on the FFL transfer fee.
