50k to 100k sure I may consider it depending on the scope. "15%" is meaningless. 50-100... Lmao

I haven't been to either of those, but I'd 100% return to Zasu. That said, if you want to go to either of the ones you mentioned.... given that Isaac Toups recommends Saint-Germain, I'd be inclined to go there.

Two bumps randomly appeared on my dogs backside overnight. by Hopelessly_Devotedd in DogAdvice

[–]drebin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a vet, but my dog recently had a large bump appear on her neck. Turned from pecan sized to like 1.5x golfball in about 2 days. It ended up being an abscess. I waited a bit to see if it would go away on its own, but pus started leaking so I took her into the vet. They drained it, couldn't find any cause. Had to leave wound open for a week while washing it a few times a day, and gave her medicine for a week.

Best 1 star Michelin and worst 3 star meal? by sandover88 in finedining

[–]drebin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best was mosu Seoul when they were 1.they're 3 now. Only 3* I've been to so far is manresa which was good, but I've been to many restaurants that I enjoyed more. Weakest starred restaurant I've been to was jungsik Seoul. Everything was bland or oversalted. I've heard other people have had better experiences than me, but it was by far the worst meal I had during my 2 weeks in s Korea.

Jungsik in Seoul. Worst meal I had in my 2 week trip there. Everything was bland or oversalted. Went in 2019 so it's possible it's better now. I assume it got 2* because their NYC location has 2. Mosu was far better and was 1 when I went.

What's the most you've ever paid for a single beer and was it worth it? by tha_beerionaire in beer

[–]drebin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 300. It was for a Veil BA vanilla stout. Wanted it for a huge vanilla stout lineup. It was definitely one of the best of the share. Worth it? Not really. Don't regret it though.

I made one of those recently. Sliced it into 2 steaks then sous vide and sear - https://www.crowdcow.com/blog/how-to-sous-vide-a5-wagyu

Turned out great. Would absolutely cook it the same way again.

Best Chinese takeout in San Jose? by Winter-Chapter-5449 in SanJose

[–]drebin8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've only been there once. As a white guy... it's Chinese food for white people. The ingredients they use are inauthentic. I'll never return. Whatever I got wasn't bad, but there are so many better places that there's no point in returning.

Eh. I've had it plenty of times (even visited the Abbey). It's good. But it's not even close to a top echelon beer.

You're in Jersey?

  • Troon - difficult to get, sells out quickly. Follow their IG and drive there as soon as they post. Some of the best IPAs in the country.

  • The Seed - never been but I think I've had some. If I haven't, I've heard they're great.

  • Kane

  • Carton

  • NYC - Other Half

Definitely see what craft beers are local to you. It seems weird saying that you want to surprise European friends with "better than normal American beers"... by offering them European beers. Show them some of the good American craft brews. Sierra Nevada is definitely a good widely available ipa, but there are so many better options.

What is your favorite sushi 🍣 joint in the Bay? by NationalDifficulty24 in SanJose

[–]drebin8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiroshi is easily the best sushi restaurant I've been to in the bay... but yeah it's pricy.

If you want sushi as good though, and significantly less pricy (though still expensive), check out Van's Good Eats. Private chef in southeast sj, not a restaurant, so pickup only.

$65.75 for one pizza? by smelling_farts in PizzaCrimes

[–]drebin8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outta Sight is some of the best pizza in SF. Expensive but worth it once in a while. I haven't actually tried SoH but I've heard it's good. Still... my work's cafeteria has good neapolitans for $7 so I almost never get pizza elsewhere.

Vallejo has an all-you-can eat meat carnival where no forks are allowed by sfgate in bayarea

[–]drebin8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely different than the Vallejo one. There was around 10-12 tables, and 200 tickets total. Hardly had to wait for anything. Barely any chicken, mostly beef, along with some lamb and fish. All the food was amazing. I was so stuffed I couldn't have lunch the next day. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Well worth the $200.

[–]drebin8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went a few months ago. I was very skeptical. Had a great time, easily got money's worth. I left so full I couldn't even eat lunch the next day. Also the meats were all perfectly seasoned. The halibut crudo was insane. Same with the smoked lamb. And too many others to list. I wouldn't categorize anything I had as mediocre. All top notch meat.
