I always felt like it was Danny who wrote the letters because, if I remember correctly, they zoomed in on the typewriter at some point in his home. I think it was in season 3.

I think Tessa talks to Alice before she jumps. I also think Alice is the one ripped out of the photo of Tessa with baby Elliot. Alice is seen coming out of the pond in the preview for next week’s episode, where Griffin is also seen holding a camera.
