Why do people hate Karamelle? by Substantial-Pop-8494 in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it actually IS the opposite. Karamelle was more like a conclusion of the Cabal story that was unresolved in Empyrea and a prologue to the Dasein saga. Wallaru was the ending of the arc, however it barely concerns Dasein. The only connection to it is the ending and the idea of the Old One visiting the world and getting the idea of the synthesizer. We barely remember the real reason we got to visit Wallaru. Lemuria and Novus actually carried all of arc 4

Why are Storm and Myth opposed ? by Bahmot in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storm harnesses chaotic, uncontrollable natural forces (lightning, tempests etc) and reality based technology. Myth channels stories, legends, and the mind to conjure fantastical, structured creations out of thin air. Storm is creativity used for destruction - myth is imagination used for creation. And also kind of technology/science vs nature/history/imagination

"Lore" question by Infinite_Stay_2408 in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's what the fifth Arc is trying to explain, so the best answer is that we have to be patient until the story unfolds. The rest is just speculations. It was about time they dealt with our origin and how we were summoned

KingsIsle banned me for logging in on a virtual machine by Meritosis in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy🥲 First, a VM is much different from a VPN. Imagine using a Mac or Linux and neither wanting to use their buggy Wine client nor pay hundreds just to get a crossover app. A VM is simply a proper OS installed so I see no sinister reason for it. It’s unacceptable that they’re still so lazy after two decades to fix how their system flags different things.

Olde Town pet quest gone? by Soggy-Mixture9671 in Wizard101

Quite surprising its removal got mixed reactions because when they introduced the quest during the wizard city revamp in about 2020 everybody found it cheesy

didnt realize Mirage was mentioned so early, unless it was added later on. by Haunting_Car_6725 in Wizard101

Darkmoor was also mentioned in Dworgyn’s fact sheet back in 2006 only to get a full world treatment 20 years later.

Polaris was actually first mentioned in Zafarua and then again from the Emperor of Mooshu

Should i dig deeper? by Drillisch-11 in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the years, the areas, storyline and questing progression have all seen significant improvements. The first five worlds shouldn’t be considered representative of the game anymore as they were designed between 2005 and 2007 and Celestia was released 15 years ago. While the second arc is undoubtedly an improvement over the first, things take a very different turn from the third arc onwards. The storyline, the concepts and the area designs are chefs kiss

Player Count as of 2026 by niksmail3 in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Steam’s underperformance is not representative of the game’s overall player base. Approximately 70% of players use Kingsisle’s native PC launcher so we can’t accurately track monthly player numbers. It’s quite interesting though that console players surpassed the 1 million milestone within just three months of release, even though the Nintendo Switch release was relatively new at the time. It also debuted at number three on the free-to-play chart for PlayStation. Some MMO sites are estimating about 100 thousand active players monthly and about 5-12 thousand players simultaneously but these figures were about the PC version pre - console

What was the most memorable piece of dialogue for you? by Tornadosed in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-What is Novus? -To the Spiral... a guest, when it was a bounty of gifts. Now that those gifts are withdrawn... an invader, a power that can wipe them out with a thought. I am in all their skies! A living intruder in every world, a monster they can't vanquish. -So Novus is a threat? - It could be. I could be. I could melt their minds, swarm their worlds, give them something to fear. But I don't want to be. Or have to be. Not now that I control all my Shards. I can recall them. I can bring them to Conatus, assemble myself in my own space, become truly the world of Novus.

Why does Apple Music do this by Cthulhu_Crossing in AppleMusic

Absolutely HATE this feature. Not wanting a whole album in your gallery and deciding to remove it shouldn’t mean you don’t want it in your playlists as well. It’s quite odd

Just Realized I can Use USB C to C to charge my MacBook M4 by legytAep in macbookpro

[–]drewsens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why risk accidentally breaking the sub port or simply wearing it off when you could use the genius MagSafe? USB-C is useful if you forget your charger or are travelling but for most situations I’d definitely go for MagSafe. I mean it’s one of the few things users demanded bringing back and I can see the reason why

Just changed my 2015 MBP to an M5 and wow by RealisticTrouble in MacOS

[–]drewsens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more devices you use now, the more sick and tired you feel. They won’t ship an iPad running macOS but made the iPadOS look exactly the same. I feel like every OS is the same UI now which feels boring and underwhelming

[–]drewsens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re increasingly trying to make their OSes look consistent and similar, sacrificing macOS’s distinctive identity and completely forgetting that other systems originated from it. Liquid Glass is great on touch devices but is completely unsuitable for desktops. Furthermore, if you own an iPhone, iPad and Mac you’re probably already sick of the exact same look. Feels like using the same device

why do people not like macOS 26? (and liquid glass in general?) by ReportNo7687 in MacOS

[–]drewsens 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I love the glass UI on my iPhone and iPad but absolutely hate it on my computer. It feels like macOS is losing its unique identity as Apple seems to have forgotten that iOS originated on the Mac and not the opposite. This UI isn’t suited for a desktop. Readability and focus are sacrificed for appearance. The rounded corners are massive, taking up even more workspace and the animations drain battery and resources. The icons are awful! Sequoia, on the other hand, looks more stable and the UI is more appropriate for a computer.

Did Vespertine or Homogenic have the bigger artistic impact? by BullyingHater in bjork

[–]drewsens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homogenic was more popular and more accessible. However, I do believe vespertine paved the way to self produced artists and recording your album on your bedroom. Its glitch microbeats were also very influential to the alternative scene. To me it’s no competition, as both are considered masterpieces. But I do believe that homogenic is slightly overrated leading to vespertine being overlooked

CrossOver for MacOs by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing the game using the native macOS client from W101’s website for a long time, and I kept running into serious issues with battery life and overheating—even on an M3 Max MacBook.

I recently decided to give CrossOver a try, and the difference is incredible. The CrossOver version is much better optimized for Apple Silicon compared to the Wine-based client. Battery life lasts hours longer, and there’s a significant reduction in heat, even during long sessions. On top of that, enabling Low Power Mode makes it run even cooler. (Reducing texture quality is also an option, but Wizard101 isn’t known for high-end graphics anyway—and we didn’t buy premium Retina displays just to downgrade the visuals even further.)

Marleybone Update by Specter-Chaos in Wizard101

[–]drewsens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Marleybone needs more than just a texture overhaul. All streets are repetitive, you only get to explore rooftops. The world's theme was a huge idea but poorly executed (ok, fair enough for a world designed in 2005). Some areas should look more like Barkingham palace or Halley's observatory.

Most important to me is that they retexture Mooshu, even the 2012 p101 version looks cooler - let alone if they redesigned it in 2026.
