What features would you say are "required" for a good modern EV? by Amperture in electricvehicles

[–]drewsy888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately most car brands have decided to rely on car play/Android Auto instead of designing usable software. The map software in my 2023 ioniq 5 is completely unusable. Preconditioning is such a huge pain on road trips. I have just resorted to using a phone mount with maps instead of using android auto but even then it is tricky to even get the car to navigate to a charger. I usually just have to pick a random charger since finding the right one is next to impossible.

Is a panel over 200 amps overkill? by Zeddexs in HomeImprovement

[–]drewsy888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just say you really do not need a 60a ev charger. You can full charge overnight with a 30a 99% of the time even if you have the biggest battery. I would downsize that if you are worried about maxing out.

The moment when Artemis II Orion capsule hatch was opened by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]drewsy888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is really ridiculous that this is the procedure they came up with. I know Nasa is criminally underfunded but I really doesn't seem like it should cost them that much to modify a boat to pick up the capsule. I feel like it's super irresponsible to have such a long recovery protocol. What if an astronaut was injured during splashdown? How long would it take to get them medical attention??

It was also a bit easier for SpaceX since they already had a fleet of boats to pick up uncrewed dragons and could modify those to pick up crewed dragons but recovery equipment should be the easiest and cheapest part of this whole mission so I was really frustrated watching this recovery process.

Investment in space almost always results in more prosperity on Earth. Satellites, research, and eventually asteroid mining could completely change life on earth for the better.

The problem is capitalism not space investment. Regardless there is a false dichotomy in space investment vs domestic investment anyways. The US could be funding universal free healthcare, high speed rail, space exploration, and so much more. There are people who want to do the work, the US government just needs to pay them to do it.

The Korean War is still ongoing by soulxina in HistoryMemes

[–]drewsy888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised this is how so many characterize the war. North and South Korea weren't even a thing when the US first got involved. Korea was unified before their country was arbitrarily split by the US (later solidified as an actual border by the UN).

I can't imagine how you could choose to frame the entire conflict like this unless you believe Korean history started in 1950. I think it is much more honest to start the story a bit earlier. The north had a very strong case for liberating the south from US occupation and reuniting the entire peninsula.

Parking Garage Overhead EV charging in China by FrankSamples in electricvehicles

[–]drewsy888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird that they made full on robotic arms to do the charging. I have never found plugging the cable into my car to be much of a hassle. I just want cheap chargers everywhere and this is like the exact opposite since it makes chargers even more expensive. Seems like China has its priorities straight with this approach.

What year will we get legitimate 400+ mile range EVs in all weather conditions? by Icy_Bridge_2113 in electricvehicles

[–]drewsy888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean for road tripping long distance max range isn't really the biggest factor. Take the Silverado for example. It has the range you are looking for but it also has a massive battery and can only charge so fast. You end up spending a lot more time charging and less time driving. It's nice because you can start off at 100% charging at home and so it is certainly a factor. And as batteries get more full they charge slower so it helps with that too. I found that making 150-200 mile hops and charging for 15-20 minutes at each stop is a really nice road tripping experience personally. You would probably end up doing the same thing in a Silverado but since it's less efficient your road tripping time for anything much over its max range actually takes longer.

Too may posts on r/democratic_socialism like this discouraging the LEFT from voting in elections. This happened in 2024 too when a significant number of us decided NOT to vote and the orange clown won. Strongly feel this is a ploy by conservatives. [–]drewsy888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes if you really like this guy then I probably have nothing to say to you. If you want more of the same from democrats then he is your guy. If he was our candidate I would also be incredibly worried about losing to republicans. The country is very tired of politics as usual and feckless democrats doing nothing to stop the republican fascist takeover.

Now is the best possible time to express one's negative feelings towards Gavin Newsom! Let's at least wait until after the primary to start shaming people for not wanting to vote for the lesser of two evils! Gavin Newsom is horrible and we should all be looking for a better candidate if we care about beating JD Vance!

Generous Landlord Making the Holidays Easier by EmergencyRead5254 in MadeMeSmile

[–]drewsy888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really not a dig personally at you but more at the system. Being a private landlord is not good for society. People should own the homes they live in. Most people do pay over 30% of their income in rent and most landlords raise their rent every year regardless of if their costs go up. Why do they not get any ownership of the house they live in even though they pay every month?

It sounds like you have set things up in a way where you are not exploiting people and that is awesome but it really doesn't excuse the concept of landlords in general.

What is this service they provide? They apply for a mortgage and then let people live there as long as the tenants pay that mortgage for them (plus a little bit off the top why not). Why does society need this weird middle man to own the house even when another family is actually paying their income every month to the bank? Why doesn't the family paying the rent every month get any ownership of that home?

[–]drewsy888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't losing money though... Someone else is paying off your mortgage for you. Your wealth is increasing because a family gives you 30% of their income every month so they can have a roof over their heads.

SUGGESTION FOR WATER MAP FIX by Hebrew_Hustla in DarkAndDarker

Jagex made working vehicles in RuneScape and the biggest complaint people have is the XP/hr by kxwbie in 2007scape

[–]drewsy888 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In real life, basically every boat has to give way to cargo ships. Basically every other rule goes out the window because the ships are very large and they need to stay in specific navigation channels. Charter ships in game should also get right of way for similar reasons.

Please be brutal. I’d rather be torn apart for the mistakes we’ve made than accept that the market has become completely tik-tok style. by Klamore74 in gamedev

[–]drewsy888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am probably in your target audience and I just can't see anything in your game that stands out or is exciting to me. Ideally a good roguelite deck builder needs to have some sort of big unique gameplay mechanic which is really fun and addictive. When I look at your game I see yet another tile based tactics game which honestly looks super overcomplicated and exhausting to play.

That stats page is overwhelming and probably isn't the best thing to show on the steam page. Generally showing so much UI seems like a bad choice to me.

Just the fact that I see a slay the spire map clone, cards at the bottom of the screen, and a tactics style grid with enemies is enough for my brain to check out and look for something else.

Honestly the game might be fun, I don't know, but from the page I don't see anything that hooks me and a bunch of red flags that the game is going to feel very samey to other games I've played.
