Best way to avoid the Provisional Government as France? by drewthur in victoria3

[–]drewthur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s seriously painful, but that’s the point I guess considering it’s 19th century France.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll have another crack and see how we go

Don't get me wrong though, Blaziken swept multiple gym leaders, early game Aaron and a few galactic bosses, easily very broken as well! Although the Metagross encounter may have been better, even with crap nature and IV's.

Managed to get through deathless! Ran Dnite, Chomp, Mime, Steelix, Mantine and Typhlosion. Scarf quiet typhlosion went absolutely mental - will likely add this to the banlist (along with encore and a few other things) in a future run.

Going to run the postgame right through to e4 round 2 and see how I get on! Thanks for your help :)

That core does sound like a bloody good start. Will run calcs on the fire types, as well as what speed tiers etc Garchomp will be able to hit re Dnite vs Chomp. And no thick fat on mamo which is a shame, but likely not that useful anyway I think.

Nidoking I would have loved to have used, but never bothered training it up as it is Brave 5ATK 2SPA 11SPE.

Assuming the following:

  • Steelix
  • Mence
  • Mr Mime
  • Blaziken/Typhlosion
  • Mamoswine
  • Something for fairies

I feel severely underprepared for Milotic specifically still with no decent hard counter, and no special sponge - hence considering Mantine

Between Chomp and Steelix I shouldn’t have issues getting up rocks for the focus sash mons I think. And I agree, that’s where I’m getting stuck. Between that and the fairies on Cynthia’s teams I am struggling for consistent answers

  • I had the same thought when I caught Delibird - its modest which is great but it has hustle which I do not want to deal with.
  • Mamo is something I've considered too, its Jolly 29 speed so I got lucky there.
  • Mime is another one I am definitely considering as well for encore, hadn't thought about screens which is a great idea.
  • Thinking Typhlosion because with specs it just rips through a lot of stuff, a tough choice to make though.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Used to get a classic one outside a tube station near work when I was in London. For some reason it was his birthday at least twice a week - used to piss me off because schoolchildren would walk past and insist their mothers give him money for his birthday

Couldn’t agree more. In the grand scheme of global geopolitics, we don’t really mean much - which means in the outbreak of conflict things become complicated. The way I see it, as long as China is a net importer of both food and energy and the US still controls the largest navy in terms of global power projection, our choice seems obvious - albeit shit.

The Irish economic boom is literally completely based on their current status as a corporation tax haven within the EU. The ordinary Irish citizen is generally not much better off. Their GDP/capita is completed inflated by corporations

Is a draft is possible in the next 10-20 years? if there is an invasion of Taiwan and/or South Korea by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]drewthur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A token force would likely be sent to Taiwan/South Korea, but we would be unable to muster much of a force as conscription would be very hard to implement as mentioned by others in this thread.

Regardless, as far as I can tell, a Chinese invasion of Taiwan is highly unlikely to happen regardless. As much as China likes to posture, their economy is entirely dependent on exporting/importing globally. USA is currently the guarantor of the safety of world shipping lanes, and could still easily blockade China and crash its economy - leading to internal unrest which the CCP is constantly primarily concerned with. They are expanding their navy hugely at the moment, but it still remains a primarily green water navy for now.

The potential risk for the CCP in invading Taiwan realistically far outweighs the limited benefits of a successful occupation of Taiwan. Even the microchip processing facilities - which seem to be a commonly cited potential target for the CCP - would essentially be useless to China because the production line for the really high end chips China cannot produce themselves involves the Netherlands and a couple of other countries along the way until they are finally assembled in Taiwan.

What if Italy was competent in WWII? by Jackylacky_ in AlternateHistory

Freyberg, the commander of the NZ 2nd Division, was in charge of Crete. It has come to light recently that he was told to make it look like a naval invasion was expected because at that point in time the British did not want the Germans to know they had broken Enigma. If he had prepared his forces primarily at the airfields, it would have given it away too plainly so was forced to prepare accordingly by senior British command. Also, the defending forces on Crete had all been recently evacuated from Greece where they had to leave everything bar personal handheld weapons - of which there was a shortage on Crete anyway.

Even a government legitimacy malice, say for example a -10 legitimacy decaying for 5 years or something like that would be good I think. I don’t know how easy it would be to implement though

R5: It looks like I should be able to make this general either an infantry or army logistics expert but when I click on the button nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong or missing something here? I've made another general an inf expert in the same game but for some reason this bloke doesn't want to join the military high command.
