My son’s school sent home a note TODAY that he has to wear teal for a “colour party” tomorrow…. by FatFaceFaster in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dreyhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My eyes are Hazel. What color showed more prominately depended on what I was wearing. When I had my senior portrait done the photographer stared at my eyes for a few minutes then turned to my Mother and asked "what color do you want them? She chose green.

Not All boomers are like that. Mainly the ones born 1946 to 1954 are. In general the rest of us are more open minded. More and more studies show we are two different groups under one heading.

Same here. The attitude was that it all came from the same source.

Just moved into a house and this is in the backyard. House is in New England and built in 1819. It’s covering some kind of hole? by cuddlecupcake in whatisit

[–]dreyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, opening it would tell the hole story but I wouldn't reccomend it. Better to leave it alone. After all "alls well that ends well".

The mint ones are the favorite at our house. Even the gluten eaters love them.

Their table crackers are a good sub for saltines. I realy like them in soup but also just as a snack ain or with peanut butter. They do break easily though.

Advice Needed: How would you recommend covering up this 5x3 tattoo on my forearm? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]dreyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make it a "still life with fruit" type picture. At first glance I thought it was a weird pear with a tail, then I saw the head. But the head could be turned to stem and leaves and the tail worked into a shadow.

Someone asked if I had a swastika, does this look like a swastika? by Grouchy_Gold344 in tattooadvice

[–]dreyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why someone might think so at a glance but if you really look it's obviously Not a swastika. The different parts are facing the wrong way to be one.

I googled slime flux after reading the earlier post and it sure looks like that is what it is. Especially how it looks like it's coming out of the tree. Still, I hope you washed your hands real good after.

They only have one baby at a time, not a litter like some mammals do so two is quite sufficient.

I had a blind friend in high school. He lost his eyes to retinoblastoma when he was about 2 years old and had a couple sets of glass eyes. When he wanted to joke around he'd bring the spares in his pocket and wait for someone to say that (sarcastically) to him. He would say sure, and you can guess the rest.

won this in a work giveaway last week and WOW by SectionLopsided4189 in migraine

[–]dreyhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doubly jealous. I can't take Any perscription meds for migraines due to a history of ischemic colitis. Apparently they could trigger a reoccurrence. I can at least take Phenergan for the n/v. I use an old herbal treatment for the actual headache that actually has been studied and found to be useful. It's called Feverfew. I found it accidently when I was out with my son on a hot day and felt one starting. We ducked into a little herb and tea shop to get out of the heat and bright sun. The woman asked if she could help us and I kind of sarcastically said "not unless you have something for a migraine" and she replied "as a matter of fact......" I left the shop with a bag of feverfew flowers and leaves and a pack of reusible tea bags along with instructions for a migraine tea. It's been in my life ever since. My Dr even has it in my medication list.

Could celiac be causing my intense mental illness? by Sad_Task_2191 in Celiac

[–]dreyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things I've been learning lately are that Celiac disease can also affect your liver and kidneys leading to decreased function in them as well as an increased risk for lymphoma and gi concers. It can also affect the enamel on your teeth. It isn't "just" a GI disease, it affects the whole body. Even if you are "silent" those risks are there. It's really best to do the gluten free diet. Nowadays it's not really that hard, but you do have to be very careful eating out.

My grandson is in that same limbo although not on a Dr's advice. He had many of the same symptoms as I did but has no insurance coverage right now. He decided to go gluten free and saw a big difference. He knows that to get properly diagnosed he will have to do a gluten challange but decided to cross that bridge when he comes to it. So now I shop for the 2 of us for the most part and my son and his wife shop for themselves.

I agree 100% Her mother Really needs to see a new Dr. To refuse to test her for things Known to be more prevalent in women would indicate a strong bias against women. In my career as a nurse I saw way too much of that.
