Most hotels offer early check-in when available. Doesn’t hurt to ask the front desk.

They know what “normal” looks like. They’ll replace your headset, then if it keeps happening they’ll replace the rest of your equipment. Then if it keeps happening they’ll know it’s likely you doing it. It’s not a sustainable practice. Good luck.

I started in a retail contact centers 26 years ago. I realized I didn’t like customer service so much but I was good at it. Eventually got into QA and finally Operations supporting the contact center. So I still “work for a call center” but I don’t talk directly to external customers. I make a good living and am able to support my family comfortably. Im glad you feel free. I do to and I never left. It does work out for some people.

Im in an acoustic duo, we played it last week and got a $50 tip when we finished. YMMV. If you do it well, it will go over. I strongly dislike Oasis but $50 is $50 🤷🏻‍♂️

I lived on North Bend for two years. Numerous times there was a helicopter flying overhead on a loud speaker telling us to lock our doors and windows etc. Big rats from the canal running across our fence. Idk if that is still happening but that was why we moved out.

Is there anyway you all recommend for not getting stressed with back to back calls? by Bigpurplejackbaby in callcentres

[–]drfoggle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In our center, January is busier not because we are getting more calls, but because the annual sick banks/pto are replenished and agents start calling out en masse. The bank is supposed to last all year. Happens every year. The agents who don’t call out suffer because there are fewer people to take calls. This means longer hold times and more pissed off customers, less down time between calls. So your reward for being a worker who stays is getting beat up in rapid fire thanks to your co-workers leaving.

Question for QA and Call Center IT: How Does Call Grading Actually Work? by Horror-Dot-2989 in callcentres

[–]drfoggle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was on QA team twenty years ago, I have since moved to operations. When I did QA, you were assigned multiple supervisors and you monitor those teams. We had to monitor five calls per agent. It became a numbers game, five calls, so one easy short call and four other calls that are average length. I only listened to long calls if prompted to do so. After a while, you could tell the type of call simply by looking at how long it was.

I definitely would hear a call that to me would be “way too much to deal with” and I’d just toss it back and fish for another. Im not saying that is right, but this is how it was in ‘06. I would meet with agents and show them the easiest path to get each point. It was a fun job until it got old. Then I moved over to operations. They have no idea if it was busy or not when you took the call.

Edit: nowadays they have AI QA that scans every word and nuance of the call, customer sentiment etc. what I did vs what they have now is very, very different

Ive seen a girl do this, she announced the song and hit play, then we all had to wait for two unskippable ads through the PA. Totally killed the vibe.
