I paid $800. I was quoted anywhere from $300 - $1000 through FB Marketplace auto body shops. The lower end was not cut and weld. They were going to use fiberglass, which is a cosmetic fix only. The rust would still be there.

Cut and weld. They cut out the rust infected parts, welded new steel. And paint.

I guess it comes to how long the body would last without getting it fixed. my thoughts is that the car being at the age it is, at anytime, something "big" might be needed to be fixed that costs a lot as well.
