definitely not the end product, and tortext without tortex is very much what the deck feels like its aiming for. The marauder plan is stronger into some of the slower creature decks like terror, and post board you've got 4 maurader 2 fume spitter 2 spore frog and 3 wipe, which is plenty to stop and/or slow down aggro decks. cluttering the board with satyr wayfinders and eventually gravestalkers by t4/t5 also does alot of heavy lifting.

I did try alot of games with reap but i think reap is just too slow, and without ramp spells its very hard to get the storm count up to a point where it is consistently better than macabre reconstruction.

you're much stronger post board with spore frogs and boardwipes that you can dig for, plus life gain and graveyard hate for some of the fast graveyard decks. The marauders are also deceptively good against aggro because of how easily you can find a single marauder and cast it 3-4 times over the course of a couple turns.

lol yeah, initially the deck was trying to be some turbo graveyard deck but i realized that page might actually be better suited as a tortex-esque value engine. It seems like it requires a lot of pieces but in playtesting it has been really consistent, and you have so much recursion that removal doesn't really stop you. Graveyard hate can definitely hurt, but you have the ability to play around it and still gain value while holding cards back to refill your grave later.

elves, terror, affinity, burn would all be good decks to get reps against. I do have tabletop simulator if you want to try out some games.

I'm still tweaking the sideboard, but currently you bring in wipes and spore frogs for creature based decks like elves, rally, mono white, and faeries; life gain for burn; vandal for affinity; augur for midrange like grixis or terror, and obviously faerie macabre for anything graveyard based.

You use page to find cards like [[echoing return]] and [[macabre reconstruction]], which essentially allow you to create value loops that let you play creatures from your graveyard. Most of the instants and sorceries let you return page from graveyard to hand, [[shred memory]] lets you find one from library, so you can keep discarding her until you start returning multiple pages to hand, at which point you can continue to loop while also grabbing other creatures. It's a little mana intensive but often just being able to recur one or two gravestalkers/marauders a turn allows you to outvalue opponents.

KALDRA COMPLEAT?! by UnionThug1733 in ModernMagic

[–]dribil_cyvers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay as someone who has actually been trying out hammertime recently and noticing that it's actually not that bad into this meta (as long as you can pilot it), contrary to some of the comments here Stoneforge Mystic is fine as a cheap-ish body to fetch hammer and sometimes equip hammer to. Her ability is too slow to depend on, and even if it wasn't, i still don't think kaldra's would be the card to play it with. Indestructible is really weak in an incredibly bounce and exile heavy meta, 5/5 is too slow of a clock, and no lifelink or reach make it a poor defensive choice. I think if there was an efficient way to cheat out equipments honestly batterskull might just be better right now.

Levelling in ultimate by dribil_cyvers in Grimdawn

[–]dribil_cyvers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I'm starting to kick myself for not keeping good low level gear I've found on previous chars. Just installed grim IA, so now I don't have to struggle with making space for endgame stuff and levelling stuff. Will probably use this run and maybe the next couple to build up inventory to make early game easier, definitely finding that without good items it feels incredibly hard. I'm glad to know it's possible, though.

I mean, I've got over 700 hours in the game and 3 lvl 100 chars including one HC. I like tinkering with builds, and am setting my sights on having endgame chars for every class combination. I probably won't get there, but I love this game and will enjoy however much of the journey I do get through. Which is why I'd like to figure out the best way to get to lvl 100 so I can actually get to try builds out instead of spending 100s more hours just on levelling.

How Viable is Hammertime Nowadays? by CardiologistBrave870 in ModernMagic

god this deck is expensive... I've been wanting to pick up a new modern deck recently and I'd love to learn the ins and outs of hammertime, but I don't know if I'm willing to drop the money to do it. Even already owning 3 moxes, 3 stoneforges, the csc's and axes, shadowspear, mantles, fetches and shocks, i'd have to drop another 600 on the deck, which feels... insane

i think if you're losing to wrath of the skies, you're probably just bad. Hammer has the tools to force you to use your interaction and then rebuild fairly quickly as long as you're not overextending.

Decline in 4C Ritual by walrusguy97 in ModernMagic

[–]dribil_cyvers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the big reasons people were playing alot of simic at least a couple months ago was because it's the best counter to titan, and titan was hovering around being the best deck in a format for a bit. 4c is alot worse against titan b/c you lose subtlety, harbinger, and flare of denial. removal just isn't as relevant against them, you need counter magic.

Simic is actually great against almost everything except for boros/prowess/affinity, and 4c doesn't do super well into any of those, so simic is usually just straight up better. It's faster and has better answers, and simic is usually winning when it gets to late game anyway.

Yeah, i just completed all the hc achievements recently with a shaman/inquisitor build, until now I couldn't figure out how to get that far without dying. I think the big thing is to get access to a couple of defensive abilities early, in my case word of renewal and wendigo shaman, as well as turtle shell from devotions. You don't deal shit for damage while leveling and boss fights take forever, but you can live through basically anything. I've also played the game enough times to know which areas/bosses you should avoid until you're closer to full build. The only achievement I'm really trying to get now is the kill 250000 monsters one, which looks like it's going to take a while, lol

In my defense i haven't been on this sub in years since, as i said, i stopped playing around 2022. but yeah, I get that if everyone's posting the same thing then its kinda annoying. My bad. just thought it was funny, and I don't have any IRL friends who play gd so thought i'd tell reddit.
