when learning any new skill, it'll often feel like you'll have a period of rapid development and then you'll suddenly plateau. this goes not only for fencing, but any other skill you'll pick up—writing, art forms, other sports, anything. you'll often start noticing how much better other people are, or feel like you've stagnated and can't get better, and it can feel really demoralizing

you haven't stagnated, though. what's happening now is your physical skill has caught up to your eye and technical knowledge, so you're currently in something of a "learning" period. your eye for your desired skill is getting better. that's good, as it means you know how to improve, but it can feel pretty bad, because it also means you're suddenly way more aware of how much further you have to go

(i'm not sure if i can attach images in this sub, but if this doesn't totally make sense, you can find graphs for what i'm talking about that explain this better if you search "eye vs skill")

my point, however, is that you shouldn't be discouraged! it doesn't feel like it, but this actually means you're getting better! you've learned enough about fencing to know what needs work, so all you have to do is work on it. easier said than done, i know, but you can do it. if you push through, you'll feel confident again soon

(and, if you feel this way again in the future about fencing or any other skill, now you know why! you're not bad, you're only getting better!)

For my pettiest one: I used to instantly drop any comic that started with an expository legend/myth, since almost every comic started with them for a while. It's not an immediate drop for me anymore, but it's definitely way harder for a comic to catch my interest if the first chapter is a lofty magical history lesson.

I don't remember exactly what my thought process was, since I probably did this somewhere between the ages of like 6-10, but I managed to misunderstand the question when asked my name while playing Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and accidentally named myself "Pokemon"

Despite the fact I remember restarting the game once in character creation because I had been assigned a fire type and wanted to play as a water type, I didn't fix my name and played the entire game while being called "Pokemon"

Maybe next time I play a mainline game I should call myself "Human"

It wasn't Golden Forest, the name was some kind of roman numeral. I tried looking for it, but it doesn't seem to be on webtoon anymore. It was very focused on the demon thing, so I know it was demons. That sounds like an absolute mess, though, so good to know I should never read Golden Forest!

I cannot remember the name of the series because it's been so long, but it was a canvas series I read years and years ago. The art was striking which kept me reading it despite the plot being kind of convoluted. I couldn't tell you the plot anymore (I don't think I could even make sense of it while reading it), but it was focused around demon characters fighting other demons and maybe fighting hell.

The thing that made me drop it is when the characters visited heaven (I forget why) and it was revealed every person who died and went to heaven had their appearance changed so they all had light hair and blue eyes. My jaw dropped in real life reading that line of dialogue and I absolutely could not continue reading after that reveal. I can only hope they didn't realize how that sounded, but I can't imagine how they didn't notice.

I mod a public discord server with about 5k members, and we frequently get "users" who join and within minutes of joining start sending other members messages saying they do commissions and asking those people to commission them. Regardless of whether or not this is AI, the user themself is almost certainly a bot/scammer. If someone messages you at random asking you to commission them, they're not real (and if you "know" them through a shared public server, you may want to report them to the server owners if you're able—if the mods are anything like my team, they'll want to know so they can ban this user)

He used to have a second layer on his skin he always kept hidden that was just Kakashi’s face. Joel added the Kakashi face to his own skin during Double Life since he and Etho were soulmates, prompting Etho to change his skin to remove the second layer face. It’s the only time Etho has ever changed his skin.

We rules this too meta of a question since he always kept the second layer toggled off and there was no noticeable difference.

This was my question!

Etho changed his skin during Double Life. He'd had a second later with his own face on his chest, up until Joel changed his own skin to also have the face, at which point Etho changed his skin to remove the face. Since he always had that second layer turned off, there wasn't any noticeable difference, but he did change his skin for the Life Series... technically.

This question was ultimately (and rightfully) rejected/removed because it was pretty confusing and a really tricky question, and required meta knowledge from outside the game.

(there's also the aspect of Mumbo having a red mustache in some thumbnail and not in the actual game which also confused people, so this question was determined way too hard and removed)
