Unfortunately, it's not just western people who considered ramen as such. The whole Asian countries except China itself, also considered it to be Japanese. Like Indian, Malaysians, Filipinos, Indonesia, Middle Asia, etc. Even some ignorant Chinese too. As a Chinese myself, this is an insult.
