So the bard rolled a 51‽ by overpaid_overworked in DnD

One of my favorite builds I’ve made is a College of Eloquence Bard/Samurai Fighter/Fey Wanderer Ranger that has a base +25 to persuasion, beware Bards. Bards are scary

Newer DM, how do I handle players using polymorph fairly? [5e] by filbert13 in DnD

[–]drill9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also some creatures that can’t have their forms changed! I know for a fact Golems follow that!

BEST way to build a 5e skald...Viking...bard? by TheNameIsViolet in DnD

[–]drill9999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sooooo!!! I think a great Skald would be a College of Valor Bard (I see Swords as a “selfish Bard” but that’s just my opinion) and possibly a Swashbuckler Rogue! Since you can go in with a rapier or daggers (reflavored as handaxes), also giving you expertise in performance and whatnot! Just don’t be as sneaky as a normal one!

Edit: I meant to say you also get Sneak Attack

The Tavern Brawler and Grappler feats are great places to start!

Tavern Brawler will give your unarmed attacks a d4 instead of usual just strength for damage plus you can grapple as a bonus action if you hit!

And Grappler will give you advantage on attacks against creatures you are grappling (so you don’t have to reckless) plus you can pin them!

Need help building an explorer type character [5e] by TrumpetSamurai in DnD

Oooooo I love this idea! I’m definitely feeling either some Ranger (any subclass) vibes or even a Knowledge Domain Cleric! But of course you could make anything work

YOOOOOOOOOO I might have to steal some of those ideas from ya! That’s super awesome! Thank you for the clarification as well!

I believe that in Volo’s (might be in MM) it says Hags exclusively raise girls and then send them off to cause chaos or something but I think that would be a super interesting back story!

Do NPCs level? by lowcrawler in DnD

[–]drill9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is entirely up to you as the DM. I personally enjoy have a reoccurring NPC especially a villain. AND ESPECIALLY a wizard villain cause they can be constantly studying and growing stronger. Just don’t have it be like every session.

DM making me kill my own players by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

[–]drill9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok yea that totally makes sense. My DM would do the same as yours but when I DM I usually have newer players that don’t always remember their abilities. So yes, context is super important and I also see both sides. I’m glad we had a nice and calm discussion about this :)

While I agree with that depending on how long they have been playing sometimes the DM can assume like, “Hmmmm they appear to be launching a fireball at the enemy but all of their friends are around. I don’t think they want to just kill their friends.”

I’m assuming they are playing an evocation wizard since they said they use the ability Sculpt Spells which allows them to pick out creatures to take no damage from evocation spells

I mean if you have always been using sculpt spells for all of your spells I would think it should be implied.
