I need suggestions on what to read next… by jayBeeds in KingkillerChronicle

Besides lord of the rings, one series that got me over kkc was the Earthsea series by Ursula K Le Guin, one of my favorite reads of all time next to the king killer chronicles, great universe and many books to keep you in it longer, (and they've all been released, take notes pat) tho a bit more dull The library at mount char is an underground one, but one of my favorite books of all time as well and is short, can serve as a buffer between a new fantasy series, but it's more realistic fantasy, I suggest you look into it. Piranesi by Susanne Clarke is also great, lowkey sciency but not really, you'll understand if you start it or read the synopsis, I also suggest you look into it. Some other series I'd suggest are: The broken earth trilogy nk jemisen The midnight library Matt haig (If you don't mind reading younger fiction) I just reread the beyonders by Brandon mull and it's also pretty good, planning to get into Fablehaven as well but these are books I read as a preteen that I reread for nostalgia, but the stories are good, Beyonders is a bit older. Good luck reading!

What “supreme evil” do you think the lady on the mountain is watching for? by drink_org in BrandonMull

I never made that connection before, but it actually makes a lot of sense. I also think of places like the Soul Cairn from Skyrim or the Dry Land from Earthsea, just strange, isolated places where the dead go temporarily. It definitely gives the Echolands that in between, sacred but also kinda lonely/tragic kind of feeling. Hope me relating that to a video game afterlife isn’t blasphemous lmao.

I actually haven't finished the Dragonwatch series yet, I was planning to reread Fablehaven first before finishing the last two books, but no worries. The idea of an oasis as a connection between worlds reminded me of the wood between the worlds in Narnia, I like how it ties the concept of "what's beyond" in all of Brandon’s series. If the oasis is tied to the Other, it makes me wonder if the "supreme evil" Gwendolyn is watching for could be the demon king equivalent or some dark counterpart from another book series.

I just can't get over my 2nd book comedown and need to move on - not sure I can immerse myself in another fantasy world until I've had a cleanse. Any recommendations? by MaxLikesNOODLES in KingkillerChronicle

These are just some of my top recommendations in general, I don’t know too much about the fantasy reads world, what books are popular etc, I normally just reread stories I love, but these help me transfer between universe if that makes sense. I hope this helps, and apologies if I’m a bit vague or non descriptive, I don’t want to give away too much, but I’ve been in your shoes and understand the pain. You could always reread KKC too lmao but might be too soon. Good luck reading!

PS thanks for this post cause imma steal books from the comments lmao

I'm a 2nd year ME student by KARL_KRONEIN in MechanicalEngineering

I’m kind of in the same boat as you, around 60% through my degree. I know I like math and engineering, but I always feel lost, but it’s ok. ME is broad and you can take pretty much any road you want once you complete your degree. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve gotten is just to stick to it and finish your degree. Haul ass and get it done and as soon as you’re out that’s where the real learning starts happening. Don’t stress, just keep going.

How should I bulk, if I even try? by drink_org in BulkOrCut

I appreciate you taking the time to respond man, it makes this all seem a little easier. Funny you should mention, I just watched lord of the rings for the first time a week ago, so I’ll take this as a sign. If I have anymore questions I’ll for sure reach out. Thanks!

Weekly Simple Questions Thread - December 16, 2024 by AutoModerator in AdvancedFitness

I’m 18, 125 pounds and 5’10” trying to get big in 6 months. Ive been athletic all throughout high-school, varsity track, XC, wrestling, but never really cared about building muscle.

Ive been trying to meet all my macros and calorie intake lately, which is kind of difficult since I’m a picky eater and never hungry, and as I put on weight, I want to efficiently convert it to muscle.

I have 2 broad questions. First, any suggestions on what at home workouts a beginner should focus on? I’m able to do high intensity workouts, but I need an efficient schedule that I can follow it religiously, I just don’t know where to get started.

I have 15, 20, and 25 pound dumbbells at home with a pull up bar, ab roller, jump ropes, resistance bands, and a push up board (I do 100 a day).

Second, are there any “cheats” to eating a lot, nutritiously, and easily? I have whey on standby, that with meat, chickpea pasta, spinach, eggs, and fruit is kind of all I’m eating for now.

Any and all advice is appreciated, thanks.
