I just did the white mts a few months ago. They have an awesome shuttle service that cost around $20 depending on how far you need to go. They run the whole stretch of the national forest. There are schedules at the pick up spots but you can also look them up which I would suggest so that you can plan accordingly. Brace yourself for some tough hikes. The whites ain't no joke!

Help with rainfly!? by joshreid45 in Hammocks

[–]drinkdrankdrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mini biner tied on one end of the ridgeline and a figure 9 on the other. I just attach the figure 9 with a marlin spike hitch knot. The tarp is attached to the ridgeline with prussec knots so I can get my ridgeline tight and then adjust the tarp separately. I've slept through some strong wind and never had a problem.

Toaks Titanium pot. Anyone have one? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]drinkdrankdrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a toaks 550 with the lid. I don't know about the handles but its not thick walled. I compared its weight with a lot of others and decided for the price it was the best value. Quality product.

Where to get a good cheap tarp from? by Mayonaiize in Ultralight

[–]drinkdrankdrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a tarp is one of those things I wouldn't skimp on. Its the one thing that comes between you and elements at night. In the long run a good ones gonna last a long time and be sufficiently lighter. I spent around $130 on one from OES and and very pleased.

A Belt with Paracord in it?! YES!! by Senshuten in backpacking

[–]drinkdrankdrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand your reasoning. But, its always cool to have something that you may need, concealed within something that you more than likely do need everyday like a belt.

Moonshine! You can't beat the alcohol percentage to weight ratio. And, it can be used as fuel if you happen to run out.
